Two-Gun Kid question
I noticed that Two-Gun Kid entry doesn't contain any of the original Two-Gun Kid comic run (1948-1977). Is there a reason for this? I understand that TGK #1-59 were (possibly) retconned to be just dime-store novels in TGK #60 (and is also a different character), but I don't see any indication that the Matt Hawk who appears in TGK #60+ (1961 and onward) is not the same Matt Hawk who appears in Kid Colt Outlaw #141 (1969) which is listed as his first appearance.
I'm not terribly well versed in where and how all the recons for the older comics take place, so I could be missing something obvious. I'm just curious if those stories are considered canon or not.

Re: Two-Gun Kid question
While TGK #60 seems to indicate the original Two-Gun Kid (Clay Harder) was just an in-universe fictional dime novel character, Marvel Westerns: The Outlaw Files reverses that and indicates that Clay Harder was a 616 character. The dime novels must have been in-universe fictions based upon his 616 adventures. So, Clay Harder should eventually have a chronology here. The more difficult issue is that some of Harder's adventures were later reprinted and altered to have Matt instead of Clay as the character involved in them. It strains credulity to say that two different people had otherwise identical adventures in the same places with the same people at different times. Outlaw Files clarifies that one of those reprinted stories was really Harder and not Matt, but the others have never received clarification as to who was really there.

Re: Two-Gun Kid question
Yep. The biggest hurdle is getting our hands on those older comics and analyzing them.
Similarly, there are a bunch of Golden Age Human Torch and Sub-Mariner comics that are canon that haven't made their way into the MCP yet either for the same reason.
One of these days we'll get to them!
Welcome to the MCP, RogueBurger!

Re: Two-Gun Kid question
Until relatively recently, alternate universes weren't high on the list either. But hey! We've made huge progress there.
Speaking of Conan and related books, anyone have 'em? (there's a bunch!)

Basically, if we want a bunch of books done, we lock Fury in his room and tell him he can't eat until he's finished. He hasn't missed a meal yet

Yes! That's it exactly. Re: Two-Gun Kid question
Don't forget the Spidey/Red Sonja crossover copublished with Dynamite (the Spidey Index confirms it's 616), Marvel Super Special #21, 35 and 38, as well as Thongorr's appearances (and since Elric appears in two issues of Conan the Barbarian, don't leave out Elric's comics, too). And there are also the Conan newspaper strips. Are those 616?Somebody wrote:Basically, if we want a bunch of books done, we lock Fury in his room and tell him he can't eat until he's finished. Re: Two-Gun Kid question
Doubtful. I'm not rich enough to own copies of all of those 50s comics, and even resorting to sailing the high seas still leaves lots of gaps, especially for the humor and romance comics. That's a shame, since Millie has a bazillion appearances (the handbooks confirm her various series are 616), but there are only a handful of her appearances listed here at MCP. And I don't even know where to look to get copies (original or scans) of all the Willie Lumpkin newspaper strips, which the handbooks again confirm are 616 (a few of which were reprinted in Marvel Age).Russ Chappell wrote:Yes! I have about half of the Millie the Models, but, again, low on the totem pole.

I'm fairly effective when food's at stake (or is that steak?).Somebody wrote:Basically, if we want a bunch of books done, we lock Fury in his room and tell him he can't eat until he's finished. He hasn't missed a meal yet
I'd also love to get back into getting some more Golden Age comics into the MCP, and have some Masterworks just waiting for me to pay attention to them, but I keep getting distracted. The eventual plan is to include everything, of course. Even Spider-Ham!

Re: Two-Gun Kid question
I've been interested in the character ever since he appeared in Dan Slott's She-Hulk run. I'm hoping Marvel eventually releases a Masterworks line to make this available for the general public. I'd certainly buy any such MMW volumes.
