AVX chronology

Post by Paul Bourcier »

Here are my notes for AVX chronology, including some comics not directly tied to AVX but which must occur at the same time. Here's part 1...

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (1-14)
One day. This segment must occur after FF 608 (19-20), X3 37, and AvAs 8. This segment occurs “weeks” before AVX 12-FB (2-5). The Phoenix Force consumes a planet on its way to Earth. From atop Avengers Tower, the Avengers see something plummet to Earth and crash into a plane and the Empire State Building. Thor brings the plane to a safe landing while Iron Man and Spidey protect people from the debris of the top of the stricken building. They discover that the plummeting object is the new Nova (Sam Alexander), who warns the heroes that “it’s coming.”

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (15-22)
The “morning” after NA2 24-FB. This segment must occur after UX2 10. At Utopia, Cyclops pushes Hope’s training too far and the frustrated Hope displays the sigil of the Phoenix and inadvertently knocks Scott for a loop. Cap and Iron Man report on the coming of the Phoenix to the president and his advisors at the White House and note that he’s assembled a team to intercept and destroy the Phoenix. As they speak, they detect Hope’s Phoenix energy signature. The depiction of Thor’s space team is purely illustrative; they don’t make actual appearances here, especially since Beast hasn’t been recruited yet.
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #9 (1:1-13:4)
The same day as AVX 1 (15-22). Given Kid Gladiator’s chronology, this segment must occur after NM3 49 and W&X 17-FB (13-16). The Phoenix Force destroys Andromeda 9. The recovered Logan and Beast respond to a deep space alarm at the Jean Grey School, where Kitty teaches a class. Cap shows up at the school, and after facing a malfunctioning Danger Room program, he’s greeted by Logan and Beast. Warbird gets a broken-up message from Gladiator warning that the Phoenix is coming. During a flying class at the school, Husk refuses to talk to Cannonball about the recent trouble with her powers. Quentin Quire and Rachel both detect the coming Phoenix and pass out. Cap tells Logan and Beast that the Phoenix is coming and Beast gets ready for the space mission Cap’s assigned him.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (23:1-23:4)
The same day as W&X 9 (1-13). Logan contemplates the implication of the Phoenix Force’s return, and Cap says he’ll need the X-Men to work with the Avengers.
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #9 (13:5-13:10)
The same day as AVX 1 (23:1-23:4). Logan tells Cap about Hope and Scott’s view of her as the mutant messiah. He tells Cap that the X-Men will oppose the Avengers. Cap asks Logan if he will side with him.

NEW AVENGERS v2 #24 – FB (5-17)
The same day as A5 26-FB (1-7). After Logan has headed to Avengers Mansion, the New Avengers meet there while protesters picket outside. Spidey confirms with Logan that Wolverine is running a school. Cage returns and lectures the protesters and the media and makes a plea for Jessica to return. Jessica shows up with Danielle and Squirrel Girl and the husband and wife have a talk. Jessica tells Cage she can’t stay for the safety of the baby and tells Cage he must decide what to do. The other Avengers arrive at the Mansion and Captain America addresses everyone about the approaching Phoenix Force. Storm leaves to head to Utopia. Cap outlines a game plan in which Stark and other brains will figure out how to contain the Phoenix Force, Thor will lead a crew into space to intercept the force, and Cap and the rest will head to Utopia to extract Hope, the target of the Phoenix Force.

Protector discovers that Mjolnir was able to pull faint traces of the Phoenix Force onto it more effectively than the Phoenix cage would have done. The team heads back into space, Protector and Beast outfit Thor with a containment pack, and the thunder god flies into the Phoenix. Using Mjolnir, he succeeds in collecting a portion of the Phoenix Force and delivering it back to his teammates as the Phoenix Force flees. The Avengers arrive, attack Protector, and seize the Phoenix Force. Beast and Ms. Marvel kick Noh-Varr off the team and threaten his life. Post by Paul Bourcier »

Part 2.

X-MEN: LEGACY #268-FB
The day after AVX 5 (20-22). Cyclops uses his Phoenix power to disarm all rebels, warlords, and militias in war-torn Narobia.

X-MEN: LEGACY #268
The day after X 268-FB. Frenzy goes to Narobia to prevent the few left there with weapons from destroying each other until the Stepford Cuckoos can arrive to do a mass memory rewrite. Frenzy meets a girl brutalized by war and is reminded of her own troubled youth. When the Cuckoos arrive, Frenzy sees the value in the victims’ retention of memories that make them who they are. She tells the Cuckoos not to do a memory wipe in spite of what the Phoenix Five have to say.

UNCANNY X-MEN v2 #14
One day, probably during the “ten days” between AVX 5 (20-22) and AVX 6 (1-7). In his subterranean version of old London, Mr. Sinister deals with a rebellious clone and prepares for the coming of the Phoenix Five with his cadre of Jean Grey clones.

AVENGERS ACADEMY #32 – FB (7:1-7:2)
One day during the “ten days” between AVX 5 (20-22) and AVX 6 (1-7). Colossus destroys a stockpile of weapons. Emma Frost destroys a Sentinel factory.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #16 – FB
One day, “two weeks” before W&X 16. Given Namor’s chronology, this flashback must occur before AVX 7 (10-14). Wilhelmina is “eleven” years old. Kade Kilgore and the Hellfire Club kids demonstrate a variety of newly minted Sentinels to prospective buyers on a private island in the Indian Ocean. As the Phoenix Five approach, the Sentinels are purchased for defense. The Phoenix Five make short work of the mutant-hunting robots and learn that the kids are the new Hellfire Club. After Kilgore challenges Cyclops, Scott imprisons him at Rykers Island, where he causes a riot and breaks out with his fellow Hellfire Club kids.

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #6 (1-7)
One day, “ten days” after AVX 5 (20-22) and “two days” before AVX 6 (8-20). Magneto welcomes Xavier to a transformed Utopia. Scott tells Xavier that the mutants under his leadership are achieving Xavier’s dream. Magik, Angel, and Storm make barren land in South Africa arable. Colossus establishes a dome in Siberia to grow crops to feed the world. Namor tends to a spring in the Aleutian Trench. Emma tends to a boundless, limitless, free source of energy in the Gobi Desert. Other X-Men enjoy recreation at Utopia.
AVENGERS ACADEMY #32
Probably the same day as AVX 6 (1-7), since TV screen shots show the X-Men from pages 5-6 of AVX 6, including a “live” report from Siberia. This story occurs “days” after AVX 5 (20-22). X-23 tells Juston she has to destroy his Sentinel, whose mutant-killing initiative Juston has only managed to subordinate, not eliminate. A live TV news report mentions a “team of X-Men”establishing massive domes in Siberia to grow crops to feed the world. Pym summons Laura and tells her she’s free to join the other mutants’ in their crusade to save the world, but X-23 opts to say at the Academy. Hazmat asks Laura to see if the Phoenix Five can make her normal again. Emma arrives at the Academy to destroy Juston’s Sentinel and offers to erase Laura’s bad memories but X-23 refuses the offer. Juston objects when Emma offers to reprogram the Sentinel rather than destroy it, but Pym, wanting to protect the students, agrees. Recalling the time she was forced to kill her pet dog, X-23 has a change of heart and attacks Emma. Her action embolden the Academy’s faculty and students to stand up to Emma.
AVENGERS ACADEMY #33 (1-18)
The same day as AvAc 32. This segment occurs “two weeks” before AvAc 33-FB. As the Academy students attack Emma, Finesse calls Quicksilver for help, but Pietro tells her he’s busy and that they should just let Emma destroy Juston’s Sentinel. Emma brushes the students aside and destroys the Sentinel. She grabs the Sentinel’s CPU and melts it. Emma asks Laura to return to Utopia with her, but X-23 refuses. After Emma leaves, Pietro arrives with the Sentinel’s real CPU, which Quicksilver swapped out for a training robot’s CPU at super speed undetected by Emma. “10 minutes later,” Pym and Pietro have successfully rebuilt Juston’s Sentinel. Pietro tells Pym that the fight with the X-Men is getting bad.

AVENGERS ACADEMY #33 (19-20)
The day after AvAc 33 (1-18). Since Pym notes that “Hawkeye is with the other Avengers” and that he thinks the Avengers are “taking the fight to Utopia,” this segment must occur before AVX 6-FB (26); indeed, since AvAc 32 probably occurs two days before AVX 6 (8-20), this segment should occur the day before AVX 6 (8-20). Concerned for the safety of their students, Pym and Tigra close Avengers Academy and tell its students to go home or start new lives.

AVX VS. #6/7
One day. Hawkeye daydreams of fights between Spider-Woman and female X-Men as he and Cap prepare to join Ant-Man on a mission involving Lockheed. If this story occurs during AVX, then Ant-Man must be Black Ant.

UNCANNY X-MEN v2 #20 – FB (17:2-17:3)
One day during AVX and before UX2 15. After leaving a “secondary Sinister” in charge of Sinister London, Mr. Sinister kills Kate Kildare and takes her place.

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #6 (8-20)
The same day as AVX 6-FB (10:2). This segment occurs “two days” after AVX 6 (1-7) and “three days” before AVX 6 (21-24). It must occur before NA2 25. Danny reports the encounter with Colossus to Cap, who relays the info to Beast, Black Panther, Iron Man, and Logan. T’Challa and Beast question their efforts to stop the X-Men. At Utopia, Scott tells Hope she doesn’t deserve the Phoenix Force even though it calls to her. Elsewhere, Magik destroys military vehicles, Emma destroys more Sentinels, Colossus disarms missiles, and Namor destroys naval ships. “Later,” in K’un Lun, Lei Kung visits an old man who consults the Book of the Fallen and tells Lei Kung he needs the Iron Fist.

NEW AVENGERS v2 #25
One day. This story must occur after AVX 6 (8-20). In K’un Lun, Lei Kung reads about a manifestation of the Phoenix that appeared there hundreds of years ago. Yu Ti instructs him to tell Iron Fist what he needs to do to save the Earth.

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #6 – FB (21:3-22:2)
One day during the “three days” between AVX 6 (8-20) and AVX 6 (21-24). Cyclops, Emma, and Namor appear before the U.N., where T’Challa sits as Wakandan delegate. Scott declares than the mutants have provided abundant food, water, and energy and that humanity is free to build a new future but notes than violence and war will no longer be tolerated.

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #6 (21-24)
One day, “three days” after AVX 6 (8-20). Iron Man, Cap, and T’Challa report to the president and discuss Scott’s declaration. The president believes that something needs to be done because the X-Men are accountable to no one. Elsewhere, Wanda foresees the destruction the Phoenix will bring.

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #6 – FB (26)
One day. This flashback must occur after AvAc 33 (19-20). Determining that they need to get a better understanding of the Phoenix, the Avengers plan to kidnap Hope from Utopia. T’Challa bows out of the mission since he’s a head-of-state.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #6 (25)
The same day as AVX 6-FB (26). The Avengers prepare for Hope’s extraction aboard a jet heading for Utopia.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #6 (27-36)
The same day as AVX 6 (25). This segment must occur before NA2 27 and W&X 12-FB (13). Thor, Iron Man, Cap, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Logan, Iron Fist, and Spider-Woman storm Utopia and grab Hope, who is with the other Lights. Scott and Emma arrive and fight the Avengers. Scarlet Witch appears and pleads with Scott to stop. Hope decides she wants to leave Utopia with Wanda. Wanda teleports away with Hope and the Avengers. Outraged, Scott declares that there shall be no more Avengers.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #7 (1-5)
Probably the same day as AVX 6 (27-36). The Phoenix Five brand the Avengers a global terrorist network, seals off Avengers Academy, and secures the deserted Avengers Tower. The X-Men (Magik, Warpath, Havok, Polaris, Gambit, X-Man) locate the Avengers (Cap, Spider-Woman, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Iron Fist). Illyana and Wanda face off, and Havok and Polaris blast the Vision.
AVX VS. #6/4
The same day as AVX 7 (1-5). Havok blasts Cap, who gets his shield up in time.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #7 (6-9)
The same day as AVXV 6/4. This segment must occur before UX2 15 and A5 28. When Wanda fells Illyana, an angry Emma shows up and attacks. Hawkeye is badly burned while trying to save Wanda and the Avengers are forced to abandon him and teleport away with Dr. Strange to a Wakandan base where they rendezvous with Logan, Pietro, Stark, Natasha, and T’Challa. The X-Men take Hawkeye back to Utopia, where Scott insists on healing him, despite Namor’s insistence on killing the Avengers and Illyana’s warning about Wanda being evil.

UNCANNY X-MEN v2 #15
One day, at least a “week” after AVX 5 (20-22). This story occurs after UX2 20-FB (17:2-17:3). Since “Kate Kildare” notes that Hope voluntarily left with the Avengers and that the Avengers are outlawed, this story must occur after AVX 7 (6-9). Psylocke, Magneto, a Danger (secretly controlled by Unit) talk as they view the new Utopia surrounding the old floating island. Illyana accompanies her brother to the Crimson Cosmos, where Colossus unsuccessfully petitions Cyttorak to excommunicate him. Scott convenes a meeting of the Extinction Team (Storm, Magneto, Magik, Colossus, Psylocke, Danger, Namor, Emma) to discuss Mr. Sinister, whom they learned informed Hope about the Phoenix. They postpone their campaign against the Avengers to plan an attack on Sinister, whom they perceive as a bigger threat to Hope. The X-Men locate Sinister (actually a Sinister clone, as revealed in UX2 20) in Sinister London below Anchorage and the Phoenix Five use the Siege Courageous to teleport to Alaska. Sinister detects their arrival and readies marauder battalions to fight them. Green grass and trees in Alaska.
UNCANNY X-MEN v2 #16
The same day as UX2 15. The Phoenix Five fight Sinister’s battalions, a Krakoa clone, and clones of Gambit, Cyclops, and Cannonball in Sinister London. Sinister manages to steal the Phoenix Force from Emma, Namor, Colossus, and Illyana and places it in his Madelyne Pryor clones, who attack and fell Scott. Magneto, Storm, Psylocke, and Danger arrive in Sinister London.
UNCANNY X-MEN v2 #17
The same day as UX2 16. This story occurs a “few weeks” before UX2 20. Fearing Sinister’s power, Unit secretly instructs Danger to lead Psylocke, Storm, and Magneto in sabotaging Sinister’s clone technology. Sinister detects the quartet’s presence and sends one of his Madelyne clones to stop them. Danger distracts Sinister long enough for Emma to convince the Phoenix Force to free itself of Sinister’s science. The Force returns itself to Emma, Cyclops, Namor, Colossus, and Magik and consumes Sinister London in fire. The Phoenix Five appear before Danger, Ororo, Betsy, and Magneto and proclaim that the world is theirs.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #12 –FB (13)
One day, “days” before W&X 12 (1:1-1:2). This flashback must occur after AVX 6 (27-36). Cyclops encourages Rachel to keep hunting for Hope and notes that the Avengers must be found and contained.

AVX VS. #6/5
One day. Domino fights and defeats Rulk. Perhaps this defeat is what drives Rulk to deal with Cyclops in A5 28.

AVENGERS v5 #28
One day, perhaps after AVXV 6/5. Given that the Avengers are based in Wakanda here, this story must occur between AVX 7 (6-9) and AVX 7 (10-14). Rulk takes it upon himself to kill Cyclops. He heads to Utopia, infiltrates the island as Ross, and prepares to shoot Scott. Emma catches him and discovers she can’t control Rulk. Rulk’s and Emma’s fight draws the attention of Cyclops, Magik, and Magneto. They put Rulk down and send him home with an x carved into his chest. Rulk lands in Wakanda, where Cap, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and T’Challa find him with the scars of battle. Rulk insists that he’ll heal. Cap assures Stark that Hope is somewhere safe.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #12 (16:6-16:8)
The same day as W&X 12 (16:5). Logan watches Rachel as Namor attacks Thor.
AVENGERS v5 #29 (13:5-13:7)
The same day as W&X 12 (16:6-16:8). Logan tells Xavier to make his move, and Xavier enters Rachel’s mind.
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #12 (17) ~ AVENGERS v5 #29 (14:1-14:2)
The same day as A5 29 (13:5-13:7). Rachel finds Hope and subdues her guard, Black Widow.
AVENGERS v5 #29 (14:3-20:6)
The same day as W&X 12 (17). Rachel discovers that what she sees is just an illusion created by Xavier. As Logan and Spider-Woman keep Namor occupied, Rachel tries to warn Namor telepathically. She realizes the Avengers are there to get her off the grid and calls Xavier a traitor as she blasts him. Xavier subdues Rachel and makes everyone present fall asleep, but Spider-Woman remains awake, thanks to her psychic shields. She tries to convince Xavier to keep helping the Avengers, but Xavier loses his will to fight his students and wipes the memory of his presence from everyone there. Page 18 and the flashback on page 19 of W&X 12 must then show a memory implant.
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #12 (19-20)
The same day as A5 29 (14-20). This segment probably occurs before X 269 and must occur before AVX 7 (10-23). At Utopia, Rachel tells Scott that her team captured Pietro and Pym but that Hope and the other Avengers eluded them. Rachel lies to Scott that she didn’t see Hope at all. Kid Gladiator scurries past them as his father arrives with Warbird and Shi’Ar troops to kill the Phoenix.
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #13
The same day as W&X 12 (19-20). This story occurs “thirteen years” after W&X 13-FB (1) and “months” after W&X 13-FB (6-8). Because Spider-Woman is with the Avengers in W&X 12, this story must occur before NA2 28. It probably occurs before A5 28. Gladiator, Warbird, and the Shi’Ar troops fight Namor, Emma, Colossus, Cyclops, and Rachel. Warbird slices up Iceman and kisses his severed head before she tries in vain to get Kubark to leave with her. She is forced to subdue Kubark, who insists he help his father fight the Phoenix Five. Gladiator is severely beaten, and “hours later,” Warbird and Kid Gladiator bring him to the Jean Grey School for medical treatment. Warbird grieves over her decision not to help Gladiator. Green grass and trees at Westchester.

NEW AVENGERS v2 #29
One day. Because Namor has the Phoenix power, this story must occur before AVX 7 (10-14) and thus occurs out-of-sequence with NA2 27-28. Cap calls a secret meeting of the Illuminati (Stark, Strange, Xavier, Reed Richards) at Funtime Inc. in the hope that Namor will show and Cap, appealing to their old friendship, can convince him to back off. The Illuminati refuse to use the Infinity Gems to stop the Phoenix. Xavier notes that he spoke to Cyclops (in AVX 6) and despairs over the fate of his students. Xavier leaves in anger, knowing that the others blame him. Before leaving, Reed notes that the X-Men have fixed many things in the world and that the only problems have arisen because the Avengers are poking them. Doubting Namor’s arrival, Strange and Stark exit. Namor then arrives and Cap pleads with him to stop, but Namor refuses and departs.

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #7 (10-14:4)
One day. Because of Hope’s chronology, this segment must occur after W&X 12 (19-20). Because of Namor’s chronology, this segment must occur after NA2 29 and W&X 16-FB. Cap is impatient with the slow progress that Stark and T’Challa are making in finding a technological solution to siphoning the Phoenix from the Phoenix Five. T’Challa suggests a magical solution. To buy the two time, Cap decides to send teams of Avengers back into the field to distract the X-Men. Hope notes that the Phoenix Five cannot be ready for what’s happened to them. Dr. Strange summons the Enchantments of Ikonn to create the illusion that each field team includes the Scarlet Witch, whom the X-Men fear. In New York, Cap, Sharon, Cage, Daredevil, and Spidey fight Magma, Colossus, Sunspot, Psylocke, and Danger.
AVX VS. #4
The same night as AVX 7 (10-14). Daredevil and Psylocke fight on the rooftops of New York. The fight ends in a draw, with Daredevil giving Betsy reason to think that perhaps the Phoenix Five will persecute their enemies just as mutants have been persecuted. Full moon.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #7 (14:5)
The same night as AVXV 4. In the Ukraine (where it is day), Falcon, Thor, Pietro, and Logan fight Boom Boom, Surge, Domino, Velocidad, Warpath, and Emma.

The same night as AVX 7 (14:5). In the Ukraine, Emma Frost beats Thor in battle.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #7 (15-23)
The same night as AVXV 4/2. In the Arctic Circle, Pym, She-Hulk, Beast, and Rulk fight Armor, Magneto, Dr. Nemesis, and Cyclops. In the Pacific Ocean, Strange, Mockingbird, Thing, and the real Wanda fight Polaris, Namor, Transonic, and Iceman. The Avengers capture Transonic and Wanda dispatches Namor back to Utopia. There, the X-Men regroup and Namor chastises Scott for not being a more ruthless warrior. Emma tells Namor that she knows the Avengers are keeping Transonic in Wakanda and hasn’t told Scott. In Wakanda, Stark studies the data from Wanda’s altercations with Illyana and Namor and deduces that there’s a connection between Wanda’s energy and the Phoenix Force. Iron Fist appears with Lei Kung and tells Stark that Hope must be taken to K’un Lun to be trained. Logan takes Hope through the portal to K’un Lun, but before other Avengers can follow, Namor attacks Wakanda with a deluge.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #8
The same day as AVX 7 (15-23). This story must occur before NA2 27. Because Cage is incarcerated in NA2 28, this story must occur before NA2 28, and because Thing is captured in W&X 14-FB, this story must occur before W&X 14-FB. Iron Man takes Lei Kung through the portal to K’un Lun, leaving the other Avengers (Iron Fist, Black Panther, Beast, Daredevil, Spidey, Rulk, Vision, Thor, Falcon, Thing, Dr. Strange, Valkyrie, and Quicksilver) to fight Namor in Wakanda. After a brutal fight that destroys much of Wakanda’s capital, Wanda arrives and helps take down Namor. The rest of the Phoenix Five arrive and as the Avengers teleport to K’un Lun, Namor’s portion of the Phoenix Force is bequeathed to Scott, Emma, Colossus, and Magik. Xavier telepathically implores Scott to stop his madness and threatens to stop him. The Avengers regroup in K’un Lun and wonder what their plan is now.
UNCANNY X-MEN v2 #18 – FB (1:2)
The same day as AVX 8. In Wakanda, photographs of Namor are taken, presumably after the combatants have left the battlefield. He’s shown prone on the ground, yelling, and flying.

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #12 – FB (17:4)
One day, probably shortly before NA2 27. Iron Fist trains Hope.

NEW AVENGERS v2 #27
One day. This story must occur after AVX 8 and probably after AVX 12-FB (17:4). In K’un Lun, Iron Fist tells Hope about the Phoenix’s appearance there centuries ago. He introduces Hope to Yu Ti, who takes her to the Scrying Vessel of Bo-Ling, which tells Yu Ti that Hope must be trained by Spider-Man. They summon Spidey, who teaches Hope that with great power comes great responsibility.

NEW AVENGERS v2 #28
One day. This story must occur after AVX 8 and W&X 13 and probably occurs before X 269. In the X-Brig, Danger oversees the captive Spider-Woman, Cage, and Hawkeye (whose injuries have healed). As punishment, Danger runs virtual realities in the Avengers’ minds in which they escape, only to find their hopes crushed by reality.

X-MEN: LEGACY #269
One day. Since Illyana notes that other Avengers have been captured, this story probably occurs after W&X 12 (19-20), and since the captives are in Magik’s hell-prison and not the X-Brig, this story probably occurs after NA2 28. Iceman uses his power to help irrigate land in China. Rogue borrows Iceman’s power to help people in New Orleans. There, Ms. Marvel lures her into what Rogue thinks is an ambush. As Rogue and Carol fight, Carol tries to tell Rogue that she just wanted to reach out to an X-Man to advise them to keep an eye on the Phoenix Five and watch for telltale signs that their actions are going from good deeds to darker measures. Rogue traps Carol in an ice prison, and as Carol pleads with her to listen, Magik shows up to claim the captive Avenger. Illyana takes Ms. Marvel and Rogue to a cratered mountain in Russia. There, Magik throws Carol into a volcanic piece of the hell dimension she’s brought to Earth, and Rogue begins to wonder if Carol was right.
X-MEN: LEGACY #270
The same day as X 269. Magik shows Rogue how Ms. Marvel and fellow prisoners Spider-Woman, Cage, Hawkeye, and Quicksilver are psychically tortured in the hell prison she’s created. Suspecting Rogue has had a change of heart, Magik tests her by leaving her unaccompanied in the hell-prison. Rogue fights demons and frees Ms. Marvel and outlines a plan to absorb Illyana’s teleportation power so they can escape. Magik returns, disappointed in Rogue for her treachery.. Rogue attempts to absorb Magik’s power but fails. Illyana returns Carol to her torture and expels Rogue to another world so she can’t interfere with the Phoenix.
X-MEN: LEGACY #271
The same day as X 270. Rogue finds herself in an alien dimension in the midst of a civil war between the glory-seeking armies of the Vray and the hive-mind collective called the Swarm. When Rogue destroys the Swarm’s battle colossus using borrowed powers of flight and super-strength, the Vray forces accept her as their alpha and leader. Commander Chahr of the Vray promises Rogue he would use ancient Vray magics to send her home, but only if she would help him defeat the Swarm. Rogue agrees, but that night, “hours later,” a Swarm ambush takes her by surprise just as the powers she borrowed fade away.
X-MEN: LEGACY #272
The same night as X 271. The Swarm captures Rogue and takes away, leaving the Vray to doubt that she’s their alpha. When the Swarm Queen tries to incorporate Rogue into the race’s hive-mind, Rogue learns about the Swarm and successfully resists the Queen’s control. She severs the connection of a Swarm soldier, Tritt, with the hive-mind and together they flee the wrath of the Queen and her forces. She reveals to Tritt the secret she learned that the Vray king and the Swarm queen set up a state of constant war between them to keep their races strong and manageable. Rogue and Tritt resolve to stop the war.
X-MEN: LEGACY #273 (1-17)
The same night as X 272. The war between the Swarm and the Vray begins. Rogue convinces Tritt to force his way into the hive-mind to show the Swarm the vision they saw of the Swarm queen colluding with the Vray king. The Swarm turn on their traitorous queen and the Vray king orders his army to press the advantage, but Rogue convinces Chahr to link his mind to the Swarm so he can see the vision too. Chahr orders the Vray to stand down, and the enraged Vray king attacks Rogue. She defeats him but refuses to slay him, so Chahr does the deed. Rogue convinces the Vray and the Swarm that their only hope of survival is to cooperate as in days of yore.

AVENGERS ACADEMY #34
One day during AVX. As she and Mettle spend leisure time in Kuai, Hazmat gets a call from Jeremy Briggs, who tells her he’s found a cure for her and Mettle. Hazmat calls Reptil and White Tiger, who are getting their magic stone and amulets inspected by Jennifer Kale at ARMOR’s secret HQ in Florida. Veil contacts Striker and Lightspeed, who are pursuing their fortunes with Striker’s mother, and tells them about Mettle and Hazmat. Jocasta contacts X-23 and Finesse, who have tried in vain to find a home in the Savage Land. All the Academy kids converge at the Briggs Building in Manhattan, where Veil reveals that Briggs has cured her condition. The students debate whether Briggs can be trusted, but Hazmat and Mettle take Jeremy’s cures and turn normal. Briggs then reveals his plot to use his cures and rob all super-beings of their powers to safeguard mankind and restore powers to those who merit them. When Jocasta objects, Briggs sends her consciousness to another body far away. Briggs reveals to the Academy students that they’re test subjects who’ve been breathing his cure, Clean Slate. The cure doesn’t work on Reptil, Finesse, and X-23, so Briggs orders the Young Masters (Big Zero, Enchantress, Coat of Arms) to subdue them and Briggs rips the stone from Reptil’s chest. Finesse causes an explosion that covers her escape with Lightspeed, Reptil, X-23, and White Tiger. Hazmat, Mettle, Striker, and Veil side with Briggs while their teammates lie unconscious in rubble.
AVENGERS ACADEMY #35
The same day as AvAc 34. Big Zero digs through the rubble and fights the revived Lightspeed, Finesse, X-23, White Tiger, and Reptil, who defeat her. As Coat of Arms studies X-23's and Reptil’s magic artifacts, Briggs tells Mettle and Hazmat that he’ll release Clean Slate “tonight” and to enjoy their newfound happiness. Briggs tells them and Veil, Striker, and Enchantress to prepare statements for the heroes who survive Clean Slate. The five fugitive students try to strike back, but Coat of Arms stands in their way. Striker tricks Enchantress into getting him a vial of the Clean Slate antidote and betrays her after he consumes some of it and gets his power back. Briggs witnesses Striker’s betrayal and attempts to kill him. Panicked, Veil takes the remaining antidote to Hazmat and Mettle to try to convince them to take it so they can get their powers back and save Striker. After Mettle selflessly agrees to take the antidote, Hazmat also consents and goes after Briggs.
AVENGERS ACADEMY #36
The same day as AvAc 35. Hazmat forces Briggs and Enchantress to retreat and finds Striker’s face scarred. She uses her power to help Mettle’s power manifest itself as they share a last kiss. Lightspeed, Reptil, White Tiger, Finesse, and X-23 fight Coat of Arms, who is armed with Reptil’s and White Tiger’s mystical weapons, which sense that Coat of Arms is a more willing wielder of them. Both White Tiger and Reptil face the powers behind their weapons and convince them that they are more worthy wielders than Coat of Arms. Re-powered, the two defeat Coat of Arms. The Academy kids break into the vault with the antidote and take it. They rush to the roof, where Briggs releases Clean Slate.
AVENGERS ACADEMY #37
The same day as AvAc 36. Lightspeed takes off to disarm the missiles carrying Clean Slate, guided by Veil, who tracks the paths of the diverging missiles. Reptil and White Tiger attack and scar Enchantress, who gets angry and teleports away, leaving Briggs alone to face the Academy students. Veil tricks Briggs’s employees into reactivating the imprisoned Jocasta, who redirects the missiles to one location where Lightspeed can disarm them. X-23 stabs Briggs, who turns her sweat to acid. Finesse grabs Laura’s claws and stabs Briggs in the radial and femoral arteries. She convinces Briggs to surrender so she can save his life, but when Briggs threatens to develop a new strain of Clean Slate after he recovers, Finesse allows him to bleed to death. “Hours later,” Veil and the scarred Striker reaffirm their friendship and the police let the Academy kids off the hook for Briggs’s death.

At Avengers Tower, Wanda tells Hawkeye that Cap plans to put together a team of “uncanny” Avengers, and Iron Fist talks to Stark about Stark’s faith journey. In Wakanda, Storm tries to help with the clean-up, but T’Challa turns his back on her. Thor asks the new Nova to join the Avengers. At a SHIELD base, Hope remarks on a beautiful day.
AVX: CONSEQUENCES #1 (1-4)
The same day as AVX 12 (31-35). This story must occur after A5 31 and probably before CM7 1 (1-14). Logan takes the Blackbird to Wakanda to help with the clean-up effort. Accompanying him are Genesis, Rockslide, Quire, Glob Herman, and Oya. As they arrive, Storm waves them away because Wakandan/mutant relations are strained. Ororo boards the plane and claims she is a Wakandan criminal and Wakanda is at war with Atlantis. T’Challa watches as the Blackbird turns around and heads back to America with Storm.
MARVEL NOW! POINT ONE #1/3
The same “night” as AVX 12 (31-35). This story occurs before NOVA5 1. Excited about being asked to join the Avengers by Thor, the new Nova flies from New York to Utah, where he encounters Diamondhead. The villain demands to know who Nova is and decides to beat on the hero in retaliation for his treatment at the hands of Rich Rider. Nova blinds Diamondhead and warns him not to mess with him. Full moon.

MARVEL NOW! POINT ONE #1 – FB
The morning after MNPO 1/3. A stranger from the future makes a killing at the New York Stock Exchange between “0900" and noon. He’s picked up by SHIELD behind the scenes and claims to be from the future.
MARVEL NOW! POINT ONE #1
The same day as MNPO 1-FB. This story occurs before SECA2 1 and “20 years” after MNPO 1/2. Maria Hill brings in Coulson and the new Nick Fury when the arrested future man asks for Johnson. The future man cryptically tells Fury and Coulson about a dire fate for America as Hill tries to gather intel about known time travelers. The future man recites a code word that causes SHIELD agents to storm the room and the agents shoot the future man and each other as the being from the future man’s body switches bodies. Hill tells Fury Jr. That it’s time to talk about the Avengers Initiative.
UNCANNY AVENGERS #1
Probably the day after AVX:C 1 (1-4), given that Logan mentions the coming eulogy in AVX 12 (31-35) and AVX:C 1 (1-4) must occur between that segment and this story. The Red Skull plants a device in Avalanche’s brain. At the Jean Grey School, Logan gives a eulogy at Xavier’s funeral, which Magneto watches on a view-screen in an undisclosed location (probably in Mexico). Alex Summers visits his brother at the Brig and scolds him for abandoning Xavier’s dream. Cap (wearing his classic costume) and Thor meet Alex there and take him to Avengers Mansion, where Cap asks Alex to join the Avengers and lead a new squad comprised of X-Men and Avengers. The meeting is interrupted by Avalanche’s attack on Manhattan, which is meant to incite anti-mutant sentiment. Havok (in a new costume) joins Cap and Thor in saving people from Avalanche’s carnage. At the Jean Grey School, Rogue confronts Wanda when Wanda attempts to set flowers at Xavier’s monument. Rogue strikes Wanda and attempts to borrow her power, but it doesn’t work. The two women are attacked by a team of mutant villains, who stab and abduct Wanda and knock out Rogue. The Red Skull removes the brain from Xavier’s corpse and plans to use it to eradicate the mutant race. Green grass and trees at Westchester and green trees in New York.

Haha... Thanks Col Fury for opening the thread again

As I said I started putting together the AvX chronology for myself. Impressive list that Paul's made! Have not made it that far myself, also because time to spent on this is limited for me. Let's start with a question and/or suggestion. In NEW AVENGERS v2 #24 the flashback scene at Avengers Mansion with all (sort of) current Avengers is labelled yesterday, while the Beach Utopia Fight would then be today. In the chronology above this all seems to happen on the same day. Not sure what the reasoning behind this is.

Good point. So where to place the break between days? Perhaps between UX2 11 (1-4) and W&X 9 (14-20)?

Actually I've took the "YESTERDAY" quotation as one of the important factors. Because automatically the Beach Utopia fight would be the next day.

DAY 1 would then be:
  • Nova crashing to Earth AVENGERS VS. X-MEN INFINITY #1
Nova crashing to Earth AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (pages 1-14)
Cyclops trains Hope, Phoenix flare AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (pages 15-19)
Cap/Iron Man with President, Phoenix flare AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (pages 20-22)
Cap visits the JGS WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN #9 (pages 1-13 panel 4)
Cap talks to Wolverine alone AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (pages 23)
Cap finishes talk Wolverine; scene Infirmary JGS; Wolverine outside with Oya WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN #9 (pages 13 remaining panels-15)
Avengers Mansion breakfast table, Jessica Jones leaving NEW AVENGERS v2 #24 (pages 5-18)
Tactic session with Red Hulk at Avengers Mansion AVENGERS v5 #28 (page 3-4)
DAY 2 would then begin with:
  • Cap addressing the Space Avengers AVENGERS v5 #26 (pages 1-2)
Cyclops talking to Nemesis about Phoenix flare; Hope talking to Danger UNCANNY X-MEN v2 #11 (pages 1-4)
JGS teachers' meeting; Beast, Wolverine heading off WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN #9 (pages 16-18)
Protector saying goodbye to Annie; Thor flying in front of shuttle leaving Earth AVENGERS v5 #26 (pages 3-8)
Beast and Space Avengers fly on; Wolverine looks down at Utopia, Gladiator, Planet Sin WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN #9 (pages 19-20)
Then BEACH OF UTOPIA FIGHT which is a bit of chronological nightmare for some characters, but first let's address if this could work as the right sequence.

Frans, please check this. The scene on page 2 of A5 28 is not what you describe.

You're absolutely right. It should be (page 3-4). If you have the issue digital it obviously is page 2. I will change this.

Paul Bourcier wrote: AVENGERS VS.
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (23:5-23:8)
The same day as W&X 9 (13:5-13:10). Logan tells Cap the students must not get involved and Cap asks Logan if he can count on him.
Personally I do not see relevance to split page 23 of Avengers vs X-Men #1 further down. We can place this whole page between the panels of Wolverine and the X-Men #9 13:4 and 13:5. The conversation flows as fluent as this suggestion with the only difference that is does not have to be split down.
Paul Bourcier wrote:AVENGERS v5 #26 (1-7)
The same day as AVX 1 (23:5-23:8). At Avengers Tower, Cap asks Thor, Valkyrie, Vision, Captain Britain, War Machine, Ms. Marvel, Beast, and Protector to go on a space mission to stop the Phoenix. After Cap says they’ll leave “in an hour,” Protector says goodbye to Annie. It is finals time at college. Green trees in New York.
This scene should be placed further down, because it happens the next day. I've split down page 1-2 (Cap's speech) and 3-8 (Protector/Annie and Avengers leave Earth). The placing of page 3-7 does not matter much, as only Protector and Annie appear. The important part is Beast, in my opinion it gives him time to return to the JGS in an hour to attend the teachers meeting and says his goodbyes to everyone.
Paul Bourcier wrote:NEW AVENGERS v2 #24 – FB (5-17)
AVENGERS v5 #28 – FB (3-4)
The same day as NA2 24-FB (5-17). The Avengers continue their strategy session. Rulk guesses that Cap needs something from him that must remain unspoken.
NEW AVENGERS v2 #24 – FB (18)
The same day as A5 28-FB (3-4). Cage decides to stay for the mission and Jessica and Danielle leave. Green grass and trees in New York.
First is there reason to put the Rulk-strategy page of Avengers v5 #28 between pages 17 and 18 of New Avengers #24? I do not see Jessica or Danielle in the pages of Avengers #28, making it possible for them to leave before Rulk's strategy session. But maybe I'm missing something.
Secondly as stated in the New Avengers issue, this is labelled "yesterday" and should happen right after Wolverine & the X-Men #9 (page 13:4 - 15). The way I see it Cap visits Wolverine, Wolverine sits outside with Oya right after, he visits the infirmary with Kitty Pryde (Cap has already left then) and sees a.o. Rachel Grey lying in a hospital bed. Then Wolverine leaves for the Avengers meeting in the Mansion. In my opinion there should be a gap between pages 15 and 16 of W&tX #9.
Paul Bourcier wrote:UNCANNY X-MEN v2 #11 (1-4)
The same day as NA2 24-FB (18). Dr. Nemesis tells Cyclops that Hope’s energy flare was a signal that will be noticed. Scott tells Emma they need to prepare for a response. In the X-Brig, the captive Unit gives Hope advice and tells Danger to monitor her.
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #9 (14-20)
The same day as UX2 11 (1-4). Logan and Beast apparently return to the Jean Grey School and Logan briefs the faculty on the Phoenix situation. He tells the faculty to stay at the school and look after the kids while he and Beast leave to work with the Avengers. Beast heads into space with Thor’s team. The Helicarrier arrives with both Avengers and New Avengers aboard to pick up Logan and they head to Utopia. On the Shi’Ar throneworld, Gladiator decides to head to Earth to rescue his son. Green grass and trees at Westchester.
AVENGERS v5 #26 (8)
The same day as W&X 9 (14-20). Thor’s team flies through space.
The pages of W&tX #9 have to be split down further. As said pages 14-15 right after 13:5. Pages 16-18 after Cap's speech to Space Avengers, that gives Beast time for the teachers meeting and saying goodbyes. Then Avengers v5 # 28 (page 3-8) with on the last page the shuttle leaving Earth (Earth is still seen in the background). And then W&tX #9 pages 19-20 with Space Avengers flying further, Wolverine looking at Utopia and Gladiator, Planet Sin.

IIRC, I figured the strategy session doesn't need to be interrupted and Cage decided to stay for the mission once the strategy session was done.

Since AvX is a chronology by page or even more so by panel, I thought to keep as much together as possible. Therefore IMO the strategy Rulk session can be placed after New Avengers meeting where Jessica leaves. First Cap introduces the danger that's coming with Storm leaving and later also Jessica. Then the Rulk strategy session.

Hey Paul (or others), it's been a while, but have you looked at my suggestions in my posts about the periode pre-Beach Utopia fight. If we have finalised (or discussed) that section, I will continue with my thoughts on the Utopia Beach Fight.

On top of my earlier suggestions for the pre-"Beach Utopia Fight" scenes, here a few more suggestions of the start of the fight on the beach. I've treaded this as panel by panel and tried to eliminate same scenes in different comics as much as possible. Paul B, your sequence looks fine, but is overlapping a lot. And sometimes I disagree with your logic, but that's what makes it fun I suppose.
Paul Bourcier wrote: AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (24-29)
The same day as A5 26 (8). At Utopia, Scott tells his team that Hope as the Phoenix will save the mutant race. Cap shows up and tells Scott he needs to take Hope into protective custody. Scott tells Cap to leave. Green grass and trees in Washington, DC.

UNCANNY X-MEN 11 (page 5)
Captain America says that he needs to take Hope in protective custody. Cyclops just looks back.

AVENGERS VS X-MEN 1 (page 26)
Cyclops walks towards Captain America. Frost,Magneto,Namor,Colossus,Hope seen (no other X-Men yet). Frost tells Hope that Captain America is there for Hope. Emma tells the others to stay back, because there is no need to ramp it up.
UNCANNY X-MEN 11 (page 6 panel 1-2)

AVENGERS VS X-MEN 1 (page 27)
Captain America and Cyclops greet each other. Captain America wants to take Hope into protective custody. Cyclops tells Captain America that they will handle it, because Hope is a mutant problem. Captain America says that the Phoenix is coming to Earth and according to experts it is headed for Hope. Cyclops snarks that his expert is probably Wolverine. Emma Frost tells Cyclops telepathically that Captain America will not leave without Hope.
UNCANNY X-MEN 11 (page 6 panel 3)
Captain America and Cyclops stand opposite each other continuing their started conversation.
NEW AVENGERS 24 (pages 1/2 panel 1-7)
In the Helicarrier the other Avengers wait for the outcome of the talk between Captain America and Cyclops. Mockingbird asks Spider-Man what went on with Spider-Island. As Spider-Man wants to explain they are yelled at and shushed by Iron Man. Black Widow, Iron Man, Wolverine and Red Hulk are looking at three dimensional images of Cyclops and Captain America as they talk.
AVENGERS VS X-MEN 1 (page 28)
Captain America says that the coming of the Phoenix is not a mutant problem, but it concerns everyone. Cyclops disagrees and thinks it's a mutant problem and the X-Men will deal with it. It's the mutant chance of rebirth, their last hope. Captain America says that the Phoenix is too close to Cyclops. Cyclops thinks that Captain America is too far away. For instance where was he when the mutants needed him most. Cyclops starts with the pointing fingers.
UNCANNY X-MEN 11 (page 6 panel 4-5)
Cyclops points his finger at Captain America. Captain America points his finger at Cyclops to make his statement.
AVENGERS VS X-MEN 1 (page 29)
Captain America says to Cyclops he wants to have the mutant-human discussion but it has to wait, because a destructive force is heading for Earth and they have to figure out a way to stop it. Cyclops says to Captain America to get the hell off his island. The other X-Men says that the gauntlet now has been thrown. Captain America says to Cyclops that he wasn't asking. AVENGERS VS X-MEN 1 (pages 30/31 panel 5)

NEW AVENGERS 24 (pages 1/2 panel 8)
Captain America in the ocean yells Avengers Assemble.
Captain America says it again or slight time delay because of seeing it on screen.
NEW AVENGERS 24 (pages 1/2 panel 9 + page 3/4 + 19/20)
Red Hulk says to the Avengers to move and it seems like the Avengers jump out of the Helicarrier. Cyclops is looking at the Avengers jumping towards him. The Helicarrier is not destroyed yet.
It's a bit odd as it seems like the Avengers are jumping out of the Helicarrier to fight the X-Men, but that does not happen after Colossus has punched a hole in the floor (and they fall actually...). It looks like the Avengers jump out of the Helicarrier with Luke Cage at the front. However I'd rather take this as a scene before Colossus destroys the Helicarrier. Also the Helicarrier is seen undestroyed again. I suppose they jump from upper decks to lower decks. It's a bit silly, but I can think of it being true…
AVENGERS VS X-MEN 1 (pages 32-33)
The Avengers on the big Helicarrier are ready to fight. The Helicarrier is not destroyed yet. Cyclops orders EmmaFrost to protect Hope. Emma says its her decision. Cyclops denies that.
AVENGERS VS X-MEN 2 (page 1)
Shield jets come out of the Helicarrier. X-Men watch from the beach to the Helicarrier knowing there is no way back. Avengers watch the beach and also know a fight is inevitable. Then Spider-Woman says Incoming. Time indicated is 2:38 pm on Tuesday.
UNCANNY X-MEN 11 (page 8 panel 1-2)
Shield Helicarrier seen with fight jets around it. Colossus seen piloting in the air (by Magneto obviously). Emma Frost takes Hope by her arm to lead her away.

Please discuss. It's kind of a cluttered story arc.
