PETER PORKER, the SPECTACULAR SPIDER-HAM #1 (May 1985)
By Steve Skeates & Mark Armstrong

APPEARANCES:
Spider-Ham, J. Jonah Jackal, J. Jeremiah Jackal Jr. (Jonah’s nephew), Bunsen Bunny, Upton Adam Stray, Ducktor Doom (also in fb), Fantastic Fur (in fb): Invisible Gorilla, Mooster Fantastic, Simian Torch, Thang (Ben Grizzly), Forbush Man (in fb)

FLASHBACK:
The Fantastic Fur defeat Ducktor Doom again, so Doom sets another plan in motion involving kangaroos.
SYNOPSIS:
Peter Porker tries to sell some photos to the Daily Beagle, but instead gets roped into a plane trip with Jonah and some kid interns to the St. Croix Trapezoid where planes have been disappearing. They quickly discover that Ducktor Doom has been using a giant magnet to ensnare planes to capture the passengers; he hooks them up to brain machines that make them jump around like rock stars. If his kangaroos enjoy them, he’ll film a music video and make lots of money selling it. Spider-Ham and the interns trap Ducktor Doom in his own device, and Doom is the only “rock star” the kangaroos like. Doom is upset, though, because he didn’t want to be the star. Later, Peter Porker learns that Jonah is now a fan of Ducktor Doom’s music.

NOTE:
Forbush Man appears here (in fb), alongside the Fantastic Fur. The current assumption is that this is the “real” Forbush Man from Not Brand Ecch; like Obnoxio the Clown (from Crazy), as a comedy character, it seems they can hop realities a lot easier than “normal” characters.

For what it’s worth, the current general idea is that the Forbush Man that appears in Nextwave: Agents of Hate is a different version. BUT! That’s a different topic for another time.

SPIDER-HAM 25TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL #1 (August 2010)
By Tom DeFalco & Jacob Chabot

APPEARANCES:
Spider-Ham, Doctor Octopussycat, Mysteriape, Eelectro, Sandmanatee, Green Gobbler, Buzzard, Mary Crane, May Porker, J. Jonah Jackal, J. Jeremiah Jackal Jr., Bunsen Bunny, Upton Adam Stray, Captain Americat (as Steve Mouser)

SYNOPSIS:
Tired of losing fights against Spider-Ham, his villains form a group to beat him: the Swinester Six! Peter Porker leaves for work at the Daily Beagle, excited about his 25th birthday. However, J. Jonah Jackal is kidnapped by the Swinester Six, as are Mary Crane and May Porker, because they witnessed it. The Buzzard gloats about the abduction at the Daily Beagle, so Peter goes looking for them as Spider-Ham. Obviously, Spider-Ham defeats the villains, and later Peter goes to his birthday party.

NOTE:
There’s a reminder flashback to Spider-Ham’s origin (him being a spider bitten by May Porker), but there’s no new information. Also, he has a “floating heads” remembrance of a bunch of characters he’s run into over the years, and Mary Jane Waterbuffalo is one of them. So, Mary Jane and Mary Crane are two different characters, and I guess Peter and Mary Jane got a divorce or something at some point.

2nd Story:
By Tom DeFalco & Adam DeKraker

APPEARANCES:
Crayfin the Bunter, Spider-Ham (Peter Porker), Swiney-Girl (Mayday Porker), Mary Crane Porker, J. Jeremiah Jackal Jr., Bunsen Bunny, Upton Adam Stray

SYNOPSIS:
Crayfin the Bunter is upset because Peter Porker wrote a story exposing his use of steroids, and he’s been kicked out of baseball. For revenge, he kidnaps Porker and some of the Daily Beagle staff. Porker’s daughter Mayday puts on her Swiney-Girl suit and goes to save them, but Crayfin buried her alive. She digs herself out and frees her dad, who puts on his Spider-Ham suit; he frees the Daily Beagle staff while she beats up Crayfin.

NOTE:
Split in two parts, separated by the third story.

A future story, obviously modeled on MC2’s Spider-Girl. Jeremiah is now the Daily Beagle publisher. If it weren’t for Spider-Verse and Spider-Ham’s continued appearances after that, I would have just stuck these appearances on the end of the various character chronologies.

3rd Story:
By Tom Peyer & Agnes Garbowska

APPEARANCES:
Watcher, Assistant Watcher, Spider-Ham (transformed into Spider-Human), Ducktor Doom

SYNOPSIS:
The Assistant Watcher views a silly alternate reality and tells us about it: Ducktor Doom transforms Spider-Ham into a human, hoping that Spider-Ham would be humiliated. However, now that he’s a human, Spider-Human cooks Ducktor Doom and eats him. The Watcher quizzes the Assistant Watcher about the reality he just viewed, but he wasn’t paying attention. As punishment, the Watcher assigns him to view every variation of “What If Sgt. Fury Fought World War II in Outer Space?”

NOTE:
This is an alternate reality where the Watcher has an assistant, viewing an alternate version of Spider-Ham’s universe.

Up next: chronologies!
