FRANKLIN RICHARDS: HAPPY FRANKSGIVING #1 (January 2007)
Skleefeld wrote:Hamster Havoc!
Reed and Sue decide to give Franklin a present because he's been so well-behaved lately. Although Franklin was hoping for a dog, it turns out to be a hamster and Franklin's somewhat less than thrilled. Reed excuses himself to head to his lab.

"Later" Reed is in his lab talking with the Mayor about his "instant reconstructor." HERBIE finds Franklin about to use Reed's transmutanator on the hamster to turn him into the "dog [he's] always wanted!" Not surprisingly, the settings weren't quite right, though, and the hamster grows to an enormous size. HERBIE, thinking quickly, activates some containment protocols and capture the monster hamster in a force field. He then sends it to the roof where it won't damage Reed's lab.

By the time, HERBIE and Franklin make it to the roof, though, the hamster has got up to Godzilla-size, bursting out of the force field and now wrecking havoc through the city. HERBIE whips down and steals the "instant reconstructor" out from under Reed's nose while he's still talking with the Mayor. He zaps the old hamster wheel and provides it -- now the size of a skyscraper -- to the monster hamster, who happily starts running in it.

"Soon" Reed comes up to the roof looking for his instant reconstructor only to find HERBIE and Franklin playing with the returned-to-normal-size hamster "who totally didn't turn into a giant mutant and destroy the city, by the way..."

--end--

All in all, the story looks like it takes place over maybe an hour or so, although a break can be placed just before we see Reed in his lab if need be. Appearances by: Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, Franklin Richards, HERBIE, "Mr. Mayor" (bald guy with glasses and a 'tache), unnamed hamster

Telepathy Terror!
Franklin is frustrated because he's not sure whether or not a girl -- "Katie" -- likes him or not. He tells HERBIE that he thought she did, but apparently when he asked, she started acting like she didn't like him. Franklin soon realizes that he'd be able to figure out what she thinks about him if he borrows his dad's telepathy helmet.

He finds the helmet in a cardboard box in "The Lab" admist various non-descript gizmos (although I will say that one item looks impressively like a light saber). As soon as Franklin turns the helmet on, he starts receiving an image of himself tied to a chair. Worried about "who's got it in for" him, he checks out other people in the building. Sue is enjoying a cup of coffee in the kitchen and is thinking about the beach. Reed's in the lab thinking of equations. Ben's watching TV and thinking about steak and root beer. Johnnys playing video games, listening to tunes, and his thoughts are represented by a closed door with an "out to lunch" sign on the doorknob.

Franklin is even more frustrated and starts picking up images of him duct taped to a bed. HERBIE tries to calm him down, but then Franklin gets an image of himself strapped to the outside of a rocket and being blasted towards the moon. Franklin continues concentrating until he can focus on himself (now being chained to a chair) and his captor: HERBIE! Franklin's upset but HERBIE reminds him that, as trying a child as Franklin is, HERBIE's prime directive is to protect him and he can't override his programming. Franklin then remembers that he wanted to read Katie's thoughts in the first place and dashes off to find her.

--end--

Despite the appearance of Katie Power in an earlier book, we don't actually see her here. And this Katie is never given a last name, so it could theoretically be any girl named Katherine. There's not even a mention of how Franklin knows her, so it could well not be someone from his school.

In any event, this whole story takes place without any appreciable breaks, probably over the course of a half hour, maybe an hour depending on how long it took Franklin to find the helmet in the first place. The only real placement clue we have is that the FF are all home, and relaxing comfortably -- presumably placing this outside the context of the Civil War storyline. Appearances by: Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Thing, Human Torch II, HERBIE, Franklin Richards

Speed Demon
Franklin is in Reed's lab, digging out his father's "speed enhancer." He explains to HERBIE that he "lost a race in gym class today -- to a girl" and he doesn't want the incident to be repeated. He tries the harness on and starts racing around his room a few times before darting out the door.

We see Franklin racing across a highway, noting that he ran from New York to Wyoming in 3.6 seconds. He then runs past some cacti, over a lake/ocean, through a city (it looks vaguely oriental, but I don't see any direct clues as to WHAT city), across some grassy plains, and through an ice-covered valley. He notes that it's a "world tour" but whether or not that's an exaggeration is unclear. In any event, the speed enhancer goes on the fritz and he can't slow down.

Franklin races back to the Baxter Building, running circles around HERBIE as he tries to explain his dilema. HERBIE notes that he's been gone "less than two minutes." HERBIE makes some calculations as Franklin continues to run in circles and is able to time the placement of a force field to capture him. Once captured, HERBIE removes the harness and Franklin decides he's so tired, he's going to bed early.

"The Next Day..." A one-panel finale in which Katie runs across the finish line as Franklin sleeps on the track. The coach and another child look on, confused.

--end--

Most of the story occurs fairly quickly. As HERBIE notes the time that Franklin's been running, the whole story, with the exception of the last panel, occurs over a five minute period or so, evidently sometime in the later afternoon/early evening of a school day. The last panel occurs on what's obviously the middle of a school day. The Katie that appears may or may not be the same one referenced in the previous story. It's to tell if this is indeed supposed to be Katie Powers -- I'm inclined to say it isn't since this girl has her hair braided and her ear appears to be pierced. "Day One" Appearances by: Franklin Richards, HERBIE. "Day Two" Appearances by: Franklin Richards, "Katie", an unnamed coach, an unnamed African-American child

Ocean-Ape Escape!
Franklin's in his bedroom reading Fantastic Four #1 and sees an ad for "Super Ocean-Apes" (a sea monkeys knock-off). He clips the coupon for them as HERBIE warns him about the problem he had with his hamster (seen on the dresser behind them).

"One week later" Franklin has recieved his Super Ocean-Apes and already has them in a fishbowl. HERBIE inadvertantly reminds Franklin of Reed's "accelerated growth powder" and Franklin's off to the lab!

In the lab, Reed is running some tests on Squid Kid (from the Summer Super Spectacular). Franklin and HERBIE then race by with an ultra-enlarged brine shrimp chasing them. Reed's oblivious, but Squid Kid sees the danger and leaps out after them.

The monster corners Franklin and HERBIE in the Hangar when Squid Kid grabs the giant shrimp from behind. There's a slight tussel, but when Squid Kid's and the shrimp's eyes meet, they fall in love and begin kissing each other. (I'm with HERBIE on this one -- totally did not see that coming!)

"Later" Franklin and HERBIE wave good-bye to the happy couple as the Fantasticar flies them on autopilot out to the ocean. Franklin then turns to admire the ad in another comic book for x-ray specs.

--end--

The individual times shown are relatively short -- only a few minutes each -- but we have some obvious gaps in between scenes. Only the "one week later" notice gives any sense of how long any of those gaps really are but I think it's safe to assume that we're only talking about two days total. This story clearly occurs after the first story in the book, as there's a direct reference to that adventure, and after the Summer Super Spectacular as that story is also directly referenced. Appearances by: HERBIE, Franklin Richards, Mr. Fantastic, Squid Kid, an unnamed hamster, an unnamed oversized Ocean Super-Ape.

Turkey Trouble!
Franklin is wandering around looking to tell Reed that Sue wants him in the kitchen. (He notes that Thanksgiving is tomorrow.) He wanders through a strange door and sees Reed sitting at a computer. When Reed turns around, though, we discover that it's really a giant turkey in an FF uniform. Franklin runs away in terror and bumps into HERBIE, who explains that it wasn't Franklin's father turned into a turkey but an alternate reality Reed who lives in a world populated by intelligent turkeys. The strange door was evidently just a dimensional gateway.

As the two try to cross back into their reality, the doors slam shut and a siren starts gobbling. The Turkey Universe FF show up to deal with the intruder, and soon capture the two. Turkey Universe Reed finally kicks on his universal translator and offers to have Franklin be a part of their annual Thanksgiving feast tomorrow.

"Soon" Franklin and HERBIE are isolated in force field chambers and they realize that they're to be part of the Thanksgiving meal itself. HERBIE is calm though as his calculations suggest that they'll be freed shortly. Cue Turkey Universe Franklin Richards and Turkey Universe HERBIE (called TURKIE) who enter, as Turkey Universe Franklin wants to play with a real live human. 616 Franklin and HERBIE make a quick escape with a "Later, birdbrains!"

The next day, the FF are sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner and Franklin notes that he's thankful that he's not the main course. Ben brings out the cooked bird and Franklin starts to become nauseous.

--end--

Placement is clearly noted as occuring the day before and the day of Thanksgiving. Appearances by: Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Thing, Human Torch II, Franklin Richards, HERBIE, Turkey Universe Mr. Fantastic, Turkey Universe Invisible Turkey, Turkey Universe Thing, Turkey Universe Turkey Torch, Turkey Universe Franklin Richards, Turkey Universe T.U.R.K.I.E.

A New Light
This is the Guiding Light crossover that's already appeared in other books.
FRANKLIN RICHARDS: MARCH MADNESS! #1 (May 2007)
Skleefeld wrote:Evolution Revolution
Franklin gets a hold of Reed's Re-De-Evolver and accidentally turns his dad into a chimp. Simian Reed grabs the device and blasts the various members of the FF with Franklin in pursuit. Franklin pulls the ol' "I'll trade you that shiny thing for this nice banana" routine and promptly changes all his family back. Except for HERBIE, who's still stuck as a toaster.

No breaks. Takes place over the course of a few minutes. Reed and Sue are home and happy, so my initial guess is pre-Civil War. Appearances by: Reed, Sue, Torch, Thing, Franklin, HERBIE
This is a reprint from IRRANT 5/2 (April 2007).
Skleefeld wrote:Molecular Mayhem
Franklin wants to go ride some new roller coaster, but Reed asks him to fetch the anti-graviton transport from the hangar bay. Franklin gets in the subatomic sled by mistake and goes on a crazy ride (with HERBIE) through sub-space before popping back into the hangar bay. As Franklin tries to keep his lunch in place, Reed pops in to say he's changed his mind and wouldn't mind taking a break to go on that coaster with Franklin after all. Franklin wobbles off, still dizzy from the sled.

Again, no breaks. Takes place over the course of a few minutes. No temporal references I could find. Appearances by: Reed, Franklin, HERBIE
This is a reprint from Marvel Adventures: Avengers #10/2 (April 2007).
Skleefeld wrote:Hair Today...
It's picture day at school and Susan reminds Franklin to look extra nice. So he cuts his hair... badly. He tries to remedy the sitch with Dad's "sonic tonic" but his hair grows insanely fast and requires HERBIE to cut it repeatedly every few seconds. HERBIE finally finds a hair remover which Franklin uses generously. He departs for school in a touk, but when pictures come back, he's completely bald.

Most of the story occurs between breakfast and Franklin leaving for school. Maybe a 1/2 hour or an hour. The last panel is the picture that was taken -- the actual taking of the picture would've been later that day but I'm sure it wasn't developed for some time afterwards. Susan's wearing a sweater and Franklin has on a wool hat and heavy winter coat, so it must be winter. Appearances by: Susan, HERBIE, Franklin

Rodent's Revenge!
Franklin's bored with his hamster (noted as being last seen in Happy Franksgiving) so he hooks him up to one of Reed's gizmos to make him smart. Although it doesn't seem to work at first, the hamster -- now calling himself Norbert Q. Sniffles: Hamster of Destruction -- traps Franklin and HERBIE in a stasis beam. The two break free and chase Norbert until he hooks himself up to the building's central power grid. "My power is unlimited!" He gets zapped and becomes a normal hamster, so Franklin takes the smoldering rodent back to his cage. (Although Norbert thinks evil thoughts of revenge!)

No breaks. Takes course over a few minutes' time. No real temporal references other than being after the Thanksgiving issue. Appearances by: HERBIE, Franklin, Norbert

Basket-Brawl
Franklin's late for his first basketball game, and he grabs Reed's "psychic projector" as a possible help. He does poorly at the game, until he inadventantly uses the projector to everyone into evil basketball monsters. (As seen on the cover.) There's a bit of a chase before Franklin calms down enough to change them back. He ditches the headband and realizes that he should've just made himself taller.

There's one break between Franklin getting ready at home, and the start of the game. Once the game starts, though, it's non-stop. The dialogue clearly states, though, that Franklin is heading from home directly to the game so the break must be fairly minimal. Given the title of the book as "March Madness" and they're playing baketball, one would presume this occurs in March, but there's no concrete/direct evidence of that. Appearances by: Franklin, HERBIE, Reed (BTS), several unnamed kids playing with Franklin, the unnamed coach, the unnamed ref

Reprints X2 181/2.

NOTE:
The indicia only says "Franklin Richards One-Shot" whereas the cover also says "Fantastic Four Presents" & "Everybody Loves Franklin."
Note that the indicia from the Lab Brat digest DOES call it "Everybody Loves Franklin".

2nd Story:
By Chris Eliopoulos & Marc Sumerak

APPEARANCES:
Invisible Woman, Franklin Richards, HERBIE

SYNOPSIS:
To get Franklin to stop playing so many video games, Mrs. Richards gives Franklin the comic book ‘Protectors of Peace’ to read. Franklin uses a machine to bring the characters to life, and when it’s over he lets his mom know that it was more exciting than video games.
Master Menace doesn't count, huh?

Actually RICHARDS, FRANKLIN BENJAMIN. Sue pulls the parental three-name thing on him at least twice (in "Weather or Not" and "Time and Time Again"

1) "Fantastic-verse" is a pretty vague title that could be anything. I'd go with "FANTASTIC FRANK-VERSE". (See also: Monkey-verse, robot-verse. I think CHIMP CHANGE-VERSE and SON OF A SUPER COMPUTER-VERSE would make more sense)
2) Pretty sure the non-powered Reed & Sue from this universe don't have codenames.

You missed Teenage Franklin & HERBIE 2.0's appearances in "Time and Time Again!" (FRANK:FFF /4). Also, I suspect that "3000" Franklin & Herbbes should be after the ~2030 40-year-old Franklin.

Oh, and finally for now, DonCampbell's Handbook quote in the Dark Reigning Cats and Dogs thread seems to attribute Earth-6513 to 40-year old Franklin's future, NOT the present-day time. Are you sure this & Pet Avengers can't be the same Earth?

May pick up on other stuff later.

He was fictional, right? I'd say no.
