Note that the second flashback might be false, since Selvig appears to die in it but turns up alive at the end.

Note that ALL the flashback might be false, as Hydra didn't exist until 1944 (long after 1926).

Just sayin'. :hmmm:

About the 1926 flashbacks- the idea is that
Spoiler:
Kobik has used her reality altering powers to make Steve think that he was always loyal to Hydra and the Skull. It's not clear if she just changed Steve's memories but she might have actually changed the past itself so the flashbacks might have "really" happened.
