SYNOPSIS:
I’m switching it up a bit this time!

A flashback in #1 shows the big fight between the good guys and bad guys. The good guys win.
A flashback in #2 shows the life & times of Rogue. There are other “flashbacks” for Wolverine and Storm, but they’re holograms/hallucinations, so they can’t be relied on as real.

The main story, basically, shows a world where life is great for the X-Men. They’ve defeated all of their villains and they’re popular heroes/celebrities. Robert Kelly is Baron of the Domain (this region is aware of the rest of Battleworld, and Thors, etc.). Cassandra Nova (who wants to usurp Kelly as Baron) run a facility to reintegrate villains into society, but she’s secretly brainwashing them (and the X-Men as the story gets going) to get them more sanitized. Wolverine’s too violent, here’s too much sexual tension between Rogue and Gambit, etc. Also, the Shadow King is involved. The X-Men eventually win, and at the end Robert Kelly is revealed to be working with some of the defeated villains, setting up future stories.

NOTE:
This series was originally online Infinite Comics (eight of them), then printed as a four-issue mini. There are no chapter breaks in the printed versions.

Do we know for sure that this series includes the characters from Earth-92131, rather than from an Earth very much like it? I ask because we know what happened to the 92131 characters in Adventures of the X-Men #12 and it wasn't pretty. The handbooks have made it very clear that 92131 is the reality that preceded 616 and which was Galen/Galactus's home reality, but in Adventures of the X-Men #12 we see all the X-Men characters die when the Mkraan Crystal destroys the universe (and Galen just barely escapes in his spaceship; this issue still hasn't been added to Galactus's chronology).

MY UNDERSTANDING IS…™

The cartoon and the comic version of the cartoon are incompatible. The comics are “inspired by” instead of taking place in the cartoon universe. Some liberties were taken, not everything lines up, etc. They’re very similar, sure, but different.

So, there’s at least two (similar) universes. The comics universe that ended in a Big Bang that led into the next universe, and the cartoon universe (possibly three; those two and then the X-Men ’92 volumes). In theory, X-Men ’92 is one of those two, but since the comics version had a pretty definitive ending (the universe ended and everyone died but Galactus) it’s more likely that X-Men ’92 is the cartoon universe. It’s also just as likely that X-Men ’92 is just it’s own thing, honestly.

So, with that in mind, the handbooks say (in All-New, All-Different Universe) that X-Men ’92 is EARTH-92131 (or variant). I see the M’Kraan Crystal/previous universe stuff mentioned in Galactus’ handbook entry, but I’m not seeing an EARTH-number attached to those events. I do see EARTH-92131 on the Appendix’s Master List of alternate realities, but it only says “X-Men cartoon (10/21/92); includes Spider-Man cartoon (11/19/94).”

As far as I know, that’s the only EARTH-number there currently is for any of these realities… The Master List says 92131 is the cartoon universe. The handbooks say X-Men ’92 is 92131 or a variant. The comic version of the cartoon (the universe prior to 616) isn’t compatible with the cartoon (92131), so the comic version is a different universe.

While it’s likely X-Men ’92 is just very similar to 92131 (the cartoon), we’ll be running with the handbook’s theory that they’re the same until proven otherwise.

That’s how I’ve wrapped my head around it, anyway. I could very well have missed something, though.

Okay, so is this how you're thinking of things?

Earth-92131: Early 90s X-Men and Spider-Man cartoons, possibly also the X-Men '92 comic series

Unnumbered Earth that is the home reality of Galactus-616: X-Men Adventures and Adventures of the X-Men series

What about Spider-Man Adventures and Adventures of Spider-Man? Would those also go in the latter rather than the former?

Yes.

The Spider-Man comic version of the cartoon would be the same unnumbered universe as X-Men Adventures and Adventures of the X-Men comic series… as I currently understand it.

Okay, thanks! Now someone needs to get those X-Men and Spider-Man comics analyzed and added to the site here, especially since Adventures of the X-Men #12 features lots of appearances that should be added to characters' chronologies (Galactus, Living Tribunal, Cosmic Brothers, Professor X-616, etc.). :D
