Secret Invasion #1 Director’s Cut

Secret Invasion #1 Director’s Cut
Appearances:
Dum Dum Dugan, a Skrull, a bunch of nameless S.H.I.E.L.D. agents

Synopsis:
Pg1-pg7
While the news reports that Captain America is dead, a bunch of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents blow off some steam in a bar. One guy is especially upset who states that the Civil War would have never happened if Nick Fury were still in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D., claiming he would have used the Registration Act as toilet paper. Another agent tells him to calm down; Dum Dum’s right over there and he’s getting pissed. The first agent doesn’t let up so Dum Dum leaves. He’s followed home by the Contessa who grills him on the location of Fury, but Dum Dum doesn’t know. She sprouts Wolverine-like claws and stabs him in the gut, and while he bleeds out she turns into Dum Dum, revealing herself to be a Skrull.

References:
All in one night, full moon over New York.

The news shows Captain America after he’s been shot, but it’s repeated from Captain America 25, no new information. This takes place shortly after that issue, as the news states an investigation is pending, and everyone is reacting to it as fairly recent news. Not the night of, probably a day or three afterwards. Any appearances of Dum Dum that take place after this are actually the Skrull imposter.

Secret Invasion #1 Director’s Cut, second story

Reprint of Secret Invasion #1, no new information.

There’s also Bendis’ script for the first issue, which reveals that Agent Brand’s first name is Abigail… and I don’t recall if that’s been revealed anywhere else or not. Also included are the Greg Horn Skrull-themed ‘Marvel Collector Stamp’ series, conceptual sketches and designs by Linil Yu, and various alternate covers.

For my part, I read it as very much "the night of". Why else would the news still have the footage on a loop?

Is this you trying to reconcile the Contessa appearance in Cap #26 a day or three later?

It very well could be the night of, I'm just saying there's wiggle room if things are too tight. As for the news, if it's something Big and Depressing they tend to repeat it a lot over here.

Nope. Both the Contessa and Dum Dum are Skrulls in Cap 26. Dum Dum was replaced here, and while we haven't been shown when the Contessa was replaced yet, it was at least sometime before New Avengers 3, where she's shown to be a Skrull in the Savage Land in New Avengers 41-FB.

The Skrull shown here is not the same Skrull as the Contessa-Imposter.(as it's the Dugan-Imposter) Also, the Skrull shown in Mighty Avengers 12 is not the same Skrull as the Contessa-Imposter.(as it was intended to be the Fury-Imposter) Unless of course, a future comic reveals otherwise.
