IH2 284, Captain America Battle of the Bulge Dec 1944

Post by Leoparis »

This is one of the stories that has been placed among the D-Day events.

This is France, 1944 per a caption. However it refers to another part of the war.

D-Day was an allied push against the Wall of the Atlantic (Nazi lines).

In IH2 284 we are told a "Nazi push is getting under way against Allied lines." This is also called a "Nazi blitzkrieg" and a "Nazi rush." (The earlier crossing of the Ardennes in May 1940 is a typical example of blitzkrieg action.) German tanks, planes and soldiers are seen moving forward in terrain that doesn't look like Normandy's bocage.

This is obviously the Battle of the Bulge that started in the Ardennes on Dec 16, 1944 and lasted a month. This was the only Nazi push happening in France in 1944.

(She-Hulk says she recognizes the scene from old movies, though none was filmed in the Ardennes. Maybe she meant documentaries. The siege of Bastogne was well covered by press correspondents.)

Given the momentum of Germans this is the early part after the Dec 16 offensive, circa Dec 19-21, when the tide started to turn.
