MAGNETO Vol 2

The 2011 one-shot special MAGNETO, written and drawn by Howard Chaykin, was initially considered non-canon since it is supposed to fit into the First Class line, like the other specials released around the same time CYCLOPS, ICEMAN AND ANGEL adn MARVEL GIRL. But aside from the fact that there have been various references over the years to events that happened in the First Class series and that in my opinion they should all be reconsidered as being in continuity, in this specific one-shot a character makes her first appearance who will later be reprised in recent times in X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comics, namely mutant seamstress Cassandra Michaels.

The story is about Magneto's arrival for the first time in the United States, Cassandra's creation of his iconic costume, and his confrontation with a monstrous golem unconsciously created by a little mutant girl (not exactly clear). There is a small cameo by the Human Torch in the sky, and there is talk of superheroes fighting crime in Manhattan.

In the story Magneto states that he has spent his entire life in Europe, but that is probably hyperbole to emphasize that this is the first time he has set foot in the United States, since at the very least he should have already been to Israel (UX 161), Argentina (First X-Men 1-2) and Brazil (CX 19/2).
If I am not mistaken, the first time chronologically speaking where we see Magneto in costume and in the United States is right after the death of Lorna's parents (XF 243) and in the sequences set in Toad's past in X-Men Forever 3-4. Incidentally, in between these two sequences is a costume-less appearance in Europe in which he alerts Sean Cassidy of the possibility of a gene war breaking out (GENX 10-FB), which in my opinion would probably fit better before XF 243-FB-FB, where he appears with the first member of the Brotherhood, Mastermind. In XMFVR 4, arguing with Magneto, Astra throws it back in his face that he wants to create the Brotherhood with Toad, whom he recently rescued, but there is nothing to suggest that he might have already been in contact with Mastermind.

In this story Magneto has already known Xavier for some time, he is preparing for the outbreak of conflict between humans and mutants, and there are mutants in Brooklyn who form a small community (a waitress who levitates dishes, a little girl who can heat breakfast with a wave of her hands, another waiter...)
The actual sequence is this:

CX 19/2 (in Brazil hunting Nazis, no costume, decides to adopt the name Magneto and start fighting for mutants)
XF 243-FB-FB (death of Lorna's parents, along with Mastermind, in costume, in the U.S.)
GENX 10-FB (no costume, in Europe)
XFVR 3 (in costume, in the U.S., rescues and recruits Toad)
XFVR 4 (is setting up his Brotherhood, in costume, with Toad and Astra, is already keeping an eye on Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver)
A 47 (12: 2)-FB-BTS (recruits Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Europe, in costume)

Lorna appears quite young XF 243-FB-FB, but she should be at least about 10-11 years old in my opinion, and we should think that when she appears in X 49 she is about 14. Or that anyway, since the whole flashback is told according to Lorna's memories modified by Mastermind, “corrected” during the narration, that while she remembers the whole thing happening when she was a child she was actually older than she portrayed herself in her mind. This would allow for the inclusion of her parents' deaths after M2, after the birth of the Fantastic Four and about 3-4 years before her first appearance.

The most logical sequence in my opinion is this:

CX 19/2 (stops hunting Nazis and decides to devote himself to the mutant cause, adopts the name Magneto)
GENX 10-FB (out of costume, in Europe, warns Sean Cassidy of the impending conflict between humans and mutants, “twenty years ago” in reference to GENX 10)
M2 (first time in the U.S., first time in costume, Human Torch flies over Manhattan so after FF 1)
XF 243-FB-FB (death of Lorna's parents, with Mastermind, in costume, in the U.S.)
XFVR 3 (in costume, in Manchester, England, rescues and recruits Toad)
XFVR 4 (he is setting up his Brotherhood, wearing the helmet of his costume, with Toad and Astra, talks about setting up the Brotherhood with Toad but Mastermind is not mentioned, is already keeping an eye on Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver)
A 47 (12: 2)-FB-BTS (recruits Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Europe, in costume)

As for individual characters, in addition to Magneto and Cassandra Michaels (in her first appearance), there is the appearance of the Human Torch. The story is said to take place in early Fall. It could be placed shortly after FF 4, at which time the quartet has surely already settled in Manhattan and is fairly well known to the public, and at the same time Thor, Ant-Man and Spider-Man (and perhaps Iron Man) should have already appeared, thus justifying Cassandra's comments about costumed superheroes operating in Manhattan.
