Re: Flashback in Punisher War Journal v2 #3

Even without the sliding timescale meaning it isn't Vietnam, there's no way the Captain America seen in this fb can be Steve Rogers, who would still have been frozen when Frank Castle was doing his basic training; Frank did five tours of duty (Frank should also still be using his Castiglione name du...

Re: Marvel stories set in 616, produced outside the US

Ant-Man's story (HC #48-49) has nothing to help place it, bar it being printed immediately following a reprint of Marvel Feature #10. Since Pym had briefly reverted to being Ant-Man around this time, I see no reason not to place the HC story right after this. This would mean that the Yellowjacket l...

Re: Villains in Spider-Island: Heroes for Hire #1

Paladin is also fighting a fanged character in a hat and fur collar that looks familiar. I guess they're all old Luke Cage villains. Looking again I recognize the fanged guy from his eyes and dodgy 'stache. It's Cornell Cottomouth http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/cotnmc.htm who also turned up last...

Re: Villains in Spider-Island: Heroes for Hire #1

Sounds like the members of the "Flashmob" that Nightshade organized in Shadowlands: Power Man #2 - Mr. Fish, Spear, Commanche, Chemistro, Cheshire Cat, Cockroach Hamilton. The fanged guy sounds like it might be Piranha Jones, though the clothes aren't a good match, and he'd need to have recovered fr...

Re: Universe Designations

The numbers are semi-random - as Russ notes, there's a system often used involving publication dates, in homage to how fans originally speculated Moore got the initial 616 that kicked it all off, but that's mainly because if people "choose numbers at random" you generally find you are not really bei...

Re: X-Men: Chaos War mistakes

I do not post very often so I hope that I am posting this in the correct place. I just finished reading the X-Men: Chaos War trade paperback and am thoroughly disgusted with the whole series. There are a number of errors in the dialogue that contradict X-Men continuity and Thunderbird’s history in ...

Re: Marvel stories set in 616, produced outside the US

Merlin's comment implies it was CB passing through the interdimensional void that caused Ralf to go off course.

As stories go, it was okay, bar Kilgore Slaughter's dodgy name, until part 4, which feels extremely rushed.

Re: Marvel stories set in 616, produced outside the US

Could you folks explain the Timesmasher/Captain Britain connection that you keep referring to? -Jeph! Yes, we could. . . . . . . . . . . . . Oh, wait. You mean "would you," not "could you." :P I've mentioned the strip to you before - check your e-mail of 6th November 2008, back when we were discuss...

Re: Marvel stories set in 616, produced outside the US

Time Smasher is recognised as being 616, and is mentioned in Merlyn's handbook entry. It's not on MCP yet, and we hadn't gotten as far as discussing it here. It's going to have minimal impact on the chronologies here - most of the characters in the story have not been seen before or since. The only...

Re: Lucifer

No idea. Especially since the newest GR series has re-re-re-re-re-retconned Mephisto into being the devil behind Johnny's curse... *brickwall* At this point, they should just assign it to a Council of Devils or something, making them all true... Pretty much what the handbooks have been forced to su...

SCAN/INFO REQUEST: Timely and Atlas vampires

A request for help: part of the upcoming Vampires handbook is an appendix on Marvel vampires, but we're having difficulty sourcing some images and info on a few Atlas/Timely era vamps. If anyone here might be able to assist with any of the following, please drop me an e-mail at ohotmu@gmail.com, the...

Taku - missing appearance

Taku, Wakandan communications man and T'Challa ally, has an appearance in Black Axe #5. T'Challa calls him on a video link to tell him to cancel T'Challa's dinner with the Latverian consul, as T'Challa is about to go and deal with the civil war in neighboring Mohannda. Comparing Taku's chronology to...

Valeria Richards - overlooked appearance

Her last appearance as Marvel Girl is listed, FF3 49, and her (re)birth as infant Valeria in FF3 54 is listed. But she's got an appearance between the two of those. In the 'Nuff Said issue, FF3 50, Sue visits the doctor for a check-up on her new/several months old pregnancy, and makes her stomach in...

Nick Fury in New Avengers #14

Anyone able to help figure out the placements for Nick Fury's appearances in New Avengers #14? In one flashback, Jessica Drew tells him Hydra want to recruit her as a double agent inside SHIELD. He tells her to become a triple agent for him. For Spider-Woman, this is between Giant Size Spider-Woman ...
