Re: FB in Born Again
In DD 230 (12 - 14), a nurse working for the Kingpin strangles Lt. Manolis while Ben Urich hears it on the phone. Later, Ben thinks about it. (17:1) and (17:6) are FB of Manolis's last moments, to be placed between (14:2) and (14:4). The nurse was Lois Franklin, a villain featured in Daredevil #229...

Re: Darkhold: Pages from the Book of Sins
I only note that in Horror Handbook, the name is spelled Chthon, with no apostrophe. There is no apostrophe. "Chthon" is a Greek term for Earth, the underground. The derivative term Chthonic is used for the spirits/deities of the Underworld from Greek mythology. See here: https://en.wikip...

Actually per the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, for German names you list by main name and put the particle after the first name. For German "von" is spelled in lower case. Example: Beethoven, Ludwig von Not a von. His name was "Ludwig van Beethove...

Given that a coachman who carries them close to the castle uses German vocabulary ("mein herr" for example) and not Swiss, this is probably the German castle. Not helpful. About 65% of Switzerland's area is inhabited by German speakers. See:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German-speaking_Sw...

Re: Defenders (2011/vol.4)'s flashbacks
Immortal Iron Fist #6 shows shows Orson meeting for the first time a young Wendell Rand while he is taking on the "last" of the Lightning Lords of Nepal in a drinking game. I thought this was depicted in Immortal Iron Fist #5, not #6. In any case, Wendell is depicted as a tavern worker in...

Amazing Spider-Man #155 concludes the W.H.O./Worldwide Habitual Offenders storyline that run through Daredevl issues #124-125, #127, and Amazing Spider-Man #153. Are any other characters affected?

Re: Thunderer/Black Avenger/Dark Avenger/Jerry Carstairs
Although, there's a wrinkle in that he's killed off (calling himself the Dark Avenger) "63 Years Ago" in Marvel Comics #1000 (the 1950 page), despite being at the GA heroes reunion in CA 442... Carstairs also appeared in "Ant-Man: Last Days" #1 (October, 2015), as one of the ret...

Re: Invisible Woman 1 flashback
It is far, far less complicated to consider all real-world people, organizations (or whatever) references topical even for comics that were published recently (Today for example). Today's stories will be "retro" by 2029. Time flies. I would say that's not a good example if you're trying t...

Re: Invisible Woman 1 flashback
Also adding a year (1992 in your example) because of a reference to the KGB is also not a good measuring tool. Since this is a flashback of an earlier point in the Modern Age the "KGB" reference would be topical. If Marvel we were to revisit this flashback 20 years from now it would be th...

Re: Nick Fury, SHIELD & the sliding timescale
My thoughts are that this "public" version of SHIELD was in development for the 15 years prior to the birth of the Fantastic Four and that the project was started by Howard Stark prior to his death (OR WAS IT!?!) in a car accident There is contradictory information on Howard's death. 1) I...

Conversely, when you compare this to the Marvel Boy's of the 40s (the two both named Martin Burns) when they were originally published, both characters made claims to having connections to Hercules. One believed he was the reincarnation of Hercules while the other was given his power by Hercules. T...

Re: Nick Fury, SHIELD & the sliding timescale
It was laid out in the Fury one-shot from 1991 (I think?) Fury wasn't even tapped to be the first director of modern-day SHIELD, that was Rick Stoner who was later assassinated leading to Fury taking over. Rick Stoner's history has some peculiarities of its own. See here: http://www.marvunapp.com/A...

Stan Lee was Editor in Chief from 1961-1972. The classic straight-Marvel years. This is the list of Marvel's Editors-in-Chief so far: *1) Martin Goodman (1939-1940). Nominal duties. *2) Joe Simon (1939-1941). *3) Stan Lee (1941-1942, 1945-1972). *4) Vincent Fago (1942-1945). *5) Roy Thomas (1972-19...

Another example: The conclusion of the Clone Saga in the 90's, along with Marvel's bankruptcy and the "Onslaught" story-line, and the "Heroes Reborn" debacle, I always thought that was the end of an era (or "season" or "phase") and "Heroes Return" (...

Re: Incredible Hulk: Last Call
I did it here for the early Gamma Base flashbacks, not based on my fancy once again but on a strict methodology where evocations of Banner's mother's death makes his actual memories shift to fantasy (and the fantasy elements are visually on the page! it is as if the writers planned it that way!). I...
