Re: VENOM! (and the Symbiotes)

Hmn. Carnage USA #2 makes it a point to mention that the four "color" Symbiotes don't act the way they're supposed to after they were split up from the merged Symbiote (Hybrid's suit) (meaning, they were changed by the process of seperation), and when they're introduced, the Symbiotes have...

Re: VENOM! (and the Symbiotes)

Somebody wrote:Oh, and Carnage USA called the ripped-back-apart Hybrid symbiotes Lasher (green), Agony (purple/violet), Phage (orange) and Riot (presumably indigo - never really get a shot in neutral light).
Thanks! Do the seperated Symbiotes get new hosts?

Also, I guess it's time for me to read Carnage USA.

VENOM! (and the Symbiotes)

So, Venom. Originally (or at least, nine years ago), the MCP had Eddie Brock and the Symbiote costume listed as one character under VENOM/EDDIE BROCK. Also, a lot of the Symbiote costume’s appearances pre-Eddie Brock were listed as -BTS. Then, the posting board had a discussion about splitting the e...

Re: Naming conventions

When "doctor" (or "professor," or "commander," or whatever) is a title for a person it should be abbreviated.

Good point on the code name use of "Mister" & "Doctor" though. Hmn.

Re: Naming conventions

My ideal, as close to possible, is to pick up an issue of Marvel comics from 1965 or 1972 or 1989 or 1995 or 2003 or 2012 and be able to find that character, in the issue I pick up, under that name, in the Marvel Chronology Project. This is what I'm talking about. John Blaze springs immed...

Re: CAPTAIN UNIVERSE!

they're both empowered by the Uni-Force and are wearing the Captain Universe colors; (And going back to that mini, several of the superheroes involved barely even got the costume - Hulk was just Blue Hulk!) Yep. That's why I said "colors" instead of "uniform." But don't f...

Re: CAPTAIN UNIVERSE!

But they're both empowered by the Uni-Force and are wearing the Captain Universe colors; they don't need to call themselves Captain Universe. Some of the Ghost Riders didn't call themselves "Ghost Rider," and yet they're bonded to a Spirit of Vengeance and they're walking around as a flami...

Re: CAPTAIN UNIVERSE!

the Uni-power isn't an identity Nope. The Uni-Power is sentient. It talks to its hosts. In the case of Captain universe we have an identity (known as Captain Universe) assuming different hosts. No, the Uni-Power empowers different hosts; the hosts assume the name Captain Universe while they're empo...

Re: Naming conventions

But what about Sharon Venutra, for example, who had only seven appearances over eight months before becoming Ms. Marvel? Or Brigid O'Reilly, who had eight appearances over about two years before becoming Mayhem? First, let me "think out loud" about my thought process on why I think we sho...

Re: Naming conventions

No, I'd also like to see a listing where you can see a full list of all of John Walker's appearances. I'm thinking no, for two reasons. When you look up CA 327 on the search page, it would say that both John Walker and Super-Patriot/John Walker appears. Duplicating John Walker's chronology twice in...

Re: Naming conventions

It sounds like you're suggesting we continue to do things the way we're already doing things. Here's how we are currently listing John Walker's various identities: On the "S" page: SUPER-PATRIOT II/CAPT. JOHN WALKER CA 345-FB CA 380/2 (4)-FB CA 333 (8:3)-FB CA 380/2 (5)-FB USA2 1-FB CA 372...

Re: Naming conventions

I think what he's saying is that we list Johnnie Walker's complete chronology under WALKER, CAPT. JOHN SUPER-PATRIOT/CAPT. JOHN WALKER CAPTAIN AMERICA VI/CAPT. JOHN WALKER and USAGENT/CAPT. JOHN WALKER But what would happen when someone searches for Cap #327 is all four identities would come up. Aga...

Re: Naming conventions

In that case, when you look up Captain America #327 in the Search, it would say that

WALKER, CAPT. JOHN/SUPER-PATRIOT/CAPTAIN AMERICA VI/USAGENT

appears in that comic. We're still left with the same problem. He's not all three identities in Cap #327, he's just Super-Patriot.

Re: Naming conventions

Why not list everyone under their real name? As Russ said earlier: That's not intuitive at all, to take characters who have spent 90% of their published lives under code names and place the chronologies under their real names. To elaborate, no one (or close to no one) is going to look for Spider-Ma...

Re: Naming conventions

Hank was Ant-Man in Hulk 154, Marvel Feature 4-10 and Captain Marvel 35-37. Basically, he was Ant-Man for a few years, then went back to being Yellowjacket in Defenders. Dang, he was Ant-Man again for that long? Wow. Thanks! When Hank guest stars in a book due to his scientific prowess, we wouldn't...
