page 1: Odin & his brothers Vali & Vi, they've just slain the giant Ymir. Also, the dwarves Brok, Buri & Ertri haul around their great weapon-making mold. In Thor I#349, Odin recalled his first meeting with Surtur as just after he and his brothers slew Ymir. In any event, this would prob...

Re: Question about the characters on p.1 of UX #423
I'm editing the Index entry for UX #423 right now, and I'm trying to describe the characters seen on p.1. I need quick little descriptive words, like "Nazis", "Roman soldiers", that sort of thing. Panel 1 - we have Roman soldiers, Jesus and two thieves up on crosses -- but who a...

Also, the Watcher himself identifies the Venus in this story as the Graeco-Roman goddess known as both Venus and Aphrodite who "renounced all her godly attributes save the power of love itself to dwell among the mortals who seemed so much to need what she alone could bestow." Of course, t...

Hypothetical Second Vietnam War note; Diamondback's brother
http://www.chronologyproject.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2948&hilit=jackal&start=15 I had forgotten one of Diamondback's brothers. Her oldest brother, whom Brock Rumlow slew (the man who later took on the Crossbones identity). As a young man Brock Rumlow was the leader of a small New ...

Moses Magnum had something to do with them, as did Hammer and Anvil. They tried to steal the Drydock from the Guardians of the Galaxy in an issue of Marvel Team-Up. I might check the index when I have a chance.

Re: High Evolutionary/Sinister photo in UX #380
Various recent Official Handbooks have stated that Phaeder supplied the young Wyndham with the DNA code in those High Evolutionary back-ups, though the X-Men Encyclopedia by Moreels did identify the benefactor as Sinister. Why did the Handbook writers decide on Phaeder? Simple, the late Mark Gruenwa...

Re: Punisher's family's names - where were they revealed?
Found a third mob reason given for the family's killing: they witnesses a drug buy! Those were some busy, busy mafioso (err, Maggioso?). They should have chosen a more discrete place than Central Park. Actually, back then, the cliche of Vietnam veterans losing loved ones to mobsters stood as extrem...

Re: Punisher's real name
The surname Castiglione may serve as an homage to one of the Mack Bolan novels. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Executioner_(book_series)#cite_ref-50 Arnesto "Arnie the Farmer" Castiglione, an underling, appeared in two Bolan novels. Gerry Conway has admitted copying some ideas from the M...

How many times have retcons contradicted the Watcher's recap
Somebody once pointed out that in a 1990's Wolverine story, omniscient third person (as opposed to first person narration as one would find a Shang-Chi story) stated that he (Wolverine) received the name Logan at birth. Well, we know that it did not work that way now due to Origin. More disconcertin...

As I recall in A@15, she caught a Guardsman out of armor and put a stun device in his face, threatening to use it. The Guardsman should have reported this to Vault personnel, as he saw her fully. Kind of hard to see how she could wiggle out of that, unless she later claimed mind control or possessio...

In Tarzan#3, La of Opar the Atlantean descended woman invoked Valka, from Kull and a Man-Thing story.

Re: Reality designation for Galactus' universe?
Fantastic Four Encyclopedia mentions it in its list of alternate Earths. I had suggested Earth Negative One, but though it got an entry, the numbering did not get in there.
