NOTE:
Uh, what happened? Last issue ended on a cliffhanger and the editor’s box at the end promised a resolution this issue. This story doesn’t have anything to do with that at all. Also, this is it for Ka-Zar. No more strips for him in Marvel Mystery that I can see. Bye, Ka-Zar!

MARVEL MYSTERY COMICS #28 (February 1942)
By Carl Burgos

APPEARANCES:
Human Torch, Toro, police commissioner, Izan & his henchmen, police, bystanders

When he finds it he discovers it’s not a ghost ship, but a specially painted ship mounted on top of a submarine, piloted by the Falkon. Investigating further Namor is captured, but freed by Betty Dean’s sister, who is married to one of Falkon’s crewmen. Namor destroys the sub, spares Dean’s sister’s husband and kills Falkon by strangling him to death.

NOTE:
I’ve seen some online resources say Betty Dean’s sister’s name is “Baby McCarthy,” but Namor just called her that once (“Never mind that, baby!”); it’s not her name. It’s like someone having the name “Pal.”

FLASHBACK:
Aubrey de Woode licks an envelope and dies.
SYNOPSIS:
Terry investigates the death of a famous Hollywood director (Aubrey de Woode). It turns out his greedy nephew poisoned him.

NOTE:
They’ve stopped translating the money’s sounds and now just give him plain English thought balloons. Apparently, he’s attracted to human women and likes to wear women’s clothes.

He lands in the Land of Nowhere and meets talking trees and a dragon. Jimmy wakes up and the pilot tells him that Jimmy’s parachute opened and saved him. Was it just a dream?

NOTE:
Apparently not, since the next issue box says Jimmy will go back to the Land of Nowhere next issue. Also, Jimmy will also appear in the current day in Cap v6, which confirms the Land of Nowhere is a real place, and that Jimmy can hop dimensions.

7th Story:
By ???

APPEARANCES:
Angel, Nazis (Gen. Henchel named), Russian soldiers, Spanish gold hunters (in fb), a missionaries (in fb), US Army

FLASHBACK:
Spanish gold hunters attack a cathedral and kill the missionaries inside, but they’re cursed to be zombies.
