Parker works as a photographer for Jameson, who is hands-on managing the Daily Bugle. Parker uses a mobile phone to speak with his aunt May, while she uses a traditional phone. Parker and Jameson are on good terms "Go see your aunt. She needs you."

There are topical references to Jim Davis's Garfield and Andrew Garfield.

After Spider-Man stops a maniac who put hallucinogenics in the Bugle's paper, Jameson rants, "Today people lost their faith in newpapers. I'm gonna restore that faith because I'm gonna switch our resources to the internet now! That's where the facts are. That's where the truth is. That's where I will win!!!"

The switch of newspapers to digital is my best clue here. Also because enough people were reading the printed newspaper to cause a crisis.

And anyway, that story has to be before Jameson loses the Bugle to Dexter Bennett (2008). But it also has to be before Parker reveals his identity (2006) as that causes resentment from JJJ.

I did some research to make sure my recall that the switch to online news and to cell phones happened circa 2000 was correct.

The clues guiding my search are the relationship with JJJ and May, May's hairdo, the mobile phone, Peters' living place, the growth of the Internet.

PPSM 8 is the first time Parker used a cordless phone. I did not find yet the first time online news were mentioned.

He's living in a shoddy flat, not in the penthouse he shared with MJ. (Watson is missing from ASM2 13 to ASM2 28.) In ASM2 16 he is fired from TriCorp, and JJJ won't buy Spidey photos. In PPSM 16 he is in a hotel room, or small apartment but loses it in PPSM 17 and is homeless in ASM2 18 & PPSM 18. From ASM2 19 he becomes Randy's roommate.

The line that Peter should go see his aunt and his shoddy living place probably mean he doesn't live with his wife (either when she was missing or they were separated). He's supposed to work for Tri-Corp but is more often at the Bugle in ASM. I have not seen him as a photographer in the Light in the Darkness collection (PPSM 20-33) although JJJ wishes he were there in PPSM 22 and Peter is one in Lifeline 1.

In PPSM 24 Peter is with a (bulky) mobile phone.

In ASM2 31, Jul 2001, he becomes a science teacher but he is still seen photographing in another series (DD2 25, Dec 2001).
This could be ground for moving the DD storyline before ASM2 31. By DD2 24 Nov 2001 cell phones had become so common that a judge forbade them in his court.

May's hairdo does not match the new one she gets in ASM2 10 but she wears the older one from TGLW 1 to PPSM 34 and back to the new one by ASM2 31.

This sentence "The new mayor's restricting parking zones" would place the story in early 2002, later than the 9/11 attack (in ASM2 36) which disturbed the mayoral election.

Another topical reference I'm going to ignore is the bitcoin, created in 2009, because by 2008 JJJ has lost the Daily Bugle.

I've searched from the time May returns and JJJ is back at the Bugle's helm.

In view of all this, I suggest placing AFSY 1000/3 after December 2001 issues. It fits the period during which Internet growth challenged print media, the period of a new mayor and the spread of mobile phones as seen in DD2 25 as well as Parker's own professional evolution.
