Re: CIVIL WAR II to SECRET EMPIRE

Post by StrayLamb »

We still seem to be missing a placement for UX4 11-15 & Annual 1, either in Civil War II or Civil War II to Secret Empire.

Here's what the Colonel has mentioned so far..

"UX4 11-15 has Psylocke leave Magneto’s team. She’s still with Magneto in CWII:X, so we’re either into CWII or past it by this point."

"UX4 11-15 happens after CWII:X 1-4, and could be during the tail end of CWII or after. Either way, it’s before IvX. "

Looking at publication dates, and since we have IVX pretty soon after CWII, i suggest placing UX4 11-15 during CWII, after CWII:X, and probably in the gap between CWII 4 (7-16) & CWII 4 (17-19). We have a number of other issues taking place during this gap, some of which are concurrent. I would probably opt for placing UX4 11-15 & Ann 1 between OML2 9-13 & ASM@ 4 1.

CWII:X 1-4
ULTS4 9, ULTS4 10 (1)
CWII 4-FB ~ ULTS4 10 (2-11)
ULTS4 10 (12-20), ULTS4 11

CA:SR 5 (15-18)
GOTG4 6-11 (after SLORD 6-8 & ANGELA:QHEL, Kitty no longer Star-Lord)
V:SK 11-13
RR&GROOT 8-10 (Gwenpool appears)
AYOM/:UNB /2 (1st day of autumn)
SQS4 15 (12-20) ("three months" after SQS4 15 (1-11)) [late September?]
PM&IF3 12 [September 30?]
CM8 9, 10 (1-19)
NHAWK2 1-6 (after SQS4 15)
NA4 18 (“a month” after NA4 13-17)
DP6 20
OML2 9-13
UX4 11-15
UX4@ 1

ASM@4 1
DP&MFM2 4-6
MG&DDINO 12 (7-17) (First Lego League) [autumn]
USQG2 15 (Iron Man appears)
GOTG4 12 (1-10)
CWII 4 (17-19)

Maybe someone who can, could move this over to the Civil War II topic..

In NO6 8 (16:2 - 16:3), Miles Morales says he hasn't seen Iron Man since the party in CWII 1 (14 - 25), but they're together in ASM4 12-15, so NO6 8 (16:2 - 16:3) should be put just before ASM4 12-15.

In FALLEN-FB, during Bruce Banner's funerals, the Silver Surfer appears with a young woman, and at the end she leaves sitting on the Silver's surf. So it looks like this woman is Dawn Greenwood, but she dies in SS7 14, and we currently have SS7 7-14 in the "Secret Wars to Civil War II" period, a little bit before CWII. So we'll have to move SS7 7-14 during or after CWII.

Col_Fury wrote: Fri Jun 15, 2018 4:32 pmMOCK 6 happens while the jury is still being selected for Hawkeye’s trial. MOCK 7 happens the day the trial starts, as does MOCK 8 (1-19). MOCK 8 (20) happens “two weeks later,” but that obviously can’t be right. In any event, it has to happen after Hawkeye is set free (he appears).
Actually, there's a problem here. MOCK 6-8 has Mockingbird going on a cruise, and it begins on Day One of jury selection for the Hawkeye trial, according twice to TV news. MOCK 6 lasts 3 days, a murder happens in the night between Day 3 and Day 4. MOCK 7 (1 - 9) has Bobbi investigating the murder. According to TV news, "jury deliberations began today in the Clint Barton murder trial." There's a break between pages 9 and 10, in which Bobbi makes a lot of researches. Then in MOCK 7 (10 - 20), at night, Bobbi finds out the murderer is the Phantom Rider. MOCK 8 (1 - 18) happens the same night, and the Phantom Rider tells Bobbi "Hawkeye was acquitted yesterday," so the gap in MOCK 7 is as long as the jury deliberations minus 1 day.

The problem is that according to ACCUSED, the trial lasts 23 days, while MOCK 6-7 says there are 4 days between jury selection and jury deliberations...

A stranger (possessed by the Phantom Rider) sends Bobbi the cruise ship ticket, claiming he has valuable information she couldn't refuse. She agrees to go because Clint's trial is beginning. MOCK 6 (9 - 15) is Day 2, the stranger first speaks to Bobbi and tells her he'll contact her "tomorrow."
MOCK 6 (16 - 20) begins with Bobbi and the stranger speaking, so we assume it's Day 3. It's confirmed by the recap page in MOCK 7, an announcement by the captain labelled "Day 4." But if we want to have a 23 days trial, we must shoehorn a 3 week gap here, in which supposedly the stranger stalls the revelation of his valuable information. Not very plausible but I don't see another way to fix this.

What do you think?

OK, fine. The listing also has CWII 3 splitted in 3 parts, but I believe it's more complicated than that. Both CWII 3 and ACCUSED show us the Hawkeye trial, but to me, ACCUSED tells the trial chronologically while CWII 3 tells the FB of Hawkeye killing Bruce chronologically.
Correct me if I'm wrong about US trials, but the trial begins with Matt calling his first witness, Carol Danvers, and I believe he will make her testify just one time, to hear her side of the story. Then Matt will call Tony Stark once, then other witnesses as Beast, and then he will question Clint.
Am I making sense or do the witnesses come testify several times, each time telling only a little bit of the story? I find it hard to believe when we often see alternately Carol and Tony speaking in CWII 3.

Right. Generally speaking, a witness is called to the stand once, is questioned by the prosecution and probably cross-examined by the defense. Sometimes the defense can call a witness back to the stand if they didn't cross-examine them, but usually not.

In this case I think it's safe to assume each witness only testified once.

CWII 2 (22) (soon after CWII 2 (1-21), seemingly the day after CWII 2 (1-21)) [July 19]
CWII 3 (2-14)-FB (for brevity)
UA3 13 (2)
CWII 3 (22-23)-FB (for brevity)
...
Trial begins
CWII 3 (1-13) [August 22]
MOCK 7, 8 (1-19) (trial started)
ACCUSED (8:3) [August 23]
...
Verdict
ACCUSED (30-31), CWII 3 (23-24), ACCUSED (32-34), CWII 4 (1-6) [September 22]
...
ULTS4 9, ULTS4 10 (1)
CWII 4-FB ~ ULTS4 10 (2-11)
ULTS4 10 (12-20), ULTS4 11
ULTS4 9 is placed after the verdict. But in ULTS4 9 (8 - 9), while waiting for the Infinaut, Blue Marvel and Captain Marvel talk about the Hawkeye matter : Adam is concerned about predictive justice, Carol tells him "Clint Barton is being prosecuted for his crime. If he's found guilty, and I can't imagine he won't be, he will face justice."
This tells us ULTS4 9 (1 - 17), the Infinaut part, happens after Hawkeye has been arrested and before the verdict in his trial, while ULTS4 9 (18 - 20), Thanos visiting the Anti-Men, leads into ULTS4 10 and CWII 4-FB and so has to stay placed here.

I don't see Adam waiting too much to express his concerns, so I would put ULTS4 9 (1 - 17) just before AOSHIELD 8-9, the next Ultimates appearance after Banner's death.

Hawkeye's trial is listed as follows:

ACCUSED (2-8:2) [August 22]
CWII 3 (1-13) [August 22]
MOCK 7, 8 (1-19) (trial started)
ACCUSED (8:3) [August 23]
ACCUSED (8:4) [August 26]
[...]
ACCUSED (8:5) [August 30]
ACCUSED (8:6) [September 2]
[...]
ACCUSED (9-14) [September 15]
[...]
ACCUSED (15-20) [September 19]
ACCUSED (21-25) [September 20]
CWII 3 (14-22) [September 20]
ACCUSED (26-29) [September 21]
ACCUSED (30-31), CWII 3 (23-24), ACCUSED (32-34), CWII 4 (1-6) [September 22]

Unless I'm counting the pages wrong (I've double checked, but still...) if you split CWII #3 at page 13, you're splitting Carol's testimony to cram in several days worth of trial.

Afaik page 13 ends with Carol identifying Hawkeye as the murderer of Banner.
Then page 14 follows-up immediately with Carol being asked other questions.
Well, as it stands, between these two pages, is (at least) ACCUSED (8:3 - 25) which ends with Daredevil's closing argument.

Am I missing something here?
