This chronology has been extensively revised to bring it into line with MCP's individual character chronologies, while matching internal dates where possible. The exception to the MCP's chronology is the placement of Cat 4 after M/TU 8, which seems to fit better. Cat 1 & 2take place during the winter, Cat 3 takes place during the summer, M/TU 8 is placed for Spider-Man just before FF 133, which is New Year's Eve, and Cat 4 takes place the following Spring. There doesn't seem to be any reason not to place M/TU 8 between Cat 3 & 4. Also M/TU 8 and Cat 3 were published the same month, so there's that as well. Further revisions may well occur over time.

I have a question about the position of Iron Man #39.

This chronology has IM#39(10-20) & IM#40 between the beginning and A#92-93, which by definition puts it between A#91 (in the previous chronology) and A#92.

However Goliath (Clint Barton)'s chronology has IM#39 between A#88 and A#90.

For the other relevant chars Captain America, Falcon, Iron Man and Thor IM#39 just lies between A#88 and A#93 so the question is irrelevant.

The relevant Official Indexes support Goliath's positioning, going all the way back to #5 of the original Marvel Avengers Index. That includes a comment on #88 which says that after the heroes are teleported back to a NY subway station at the end of #88 Iron Man leaves the others and goes to Stark Industries while the others head to Avengers Mansion. The action then picks up in IM#39 p20-27 (several hours later according to the Index comment) where he flies (back) from SI to the Mansion and is attacked by White Dragon's forces. The 4 other heroes (are still together and) help him.

The choice of this position for IM#39 seems completely based on the fact that Cap, Falcon, Goliath and Thor are seen together, and it is just those 4 plus IM who have been off with Hulk in the Pacific in A#88. Black Panther left the team in an A#88 fb. And Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Vision stayed behind, and went off chasing Captain Marvel to Florida while the others were away as seen in an A#89 fb.

IM#39 was published in the same month as A#89, but it makes no mention of A#88-89 or why Cap, Falcon, Goliath and Thor are together without any other Avengers. And specifically it only has IM flying away from SI to the Mansion without saying that he's only recently left the Avengers and flown *to* SI. However I expect that the choice of guest stars was a conscious editorial decision based on the events in the Avengers issues, and the link up wasn't seamless as is often the case in these situations.

Should we move IM#39(10-20) & IM#40 backwards into BIRTH OF FRANKLIN RICHARDS TO BIRTH OF THE DEFENDERS to between A#88 and A#89, or more specifically between Hulk #140 and A#89(1-5)?

In Hulk 152, Matt Murdock makes a reference to being on the lookout for the Purple Man who resurfaced in DD 88. Should DD 86-88 come before Hulk 152-153 like it does in DD's timeline? And if so, would that effect the placement of DD 89-94?
