Another one: New Mutants Annual #3 page 28 Sam thinks, "They look like our profs" referring to Warlock and Impossible Man imitating Xavier and Magneto.

They're not in shock in issue 35. And in shock or not issue 38 establishes that they do refer to Magneto as "professor" and so do Kitty and Sharon and other people in Claremont's issues.

I found Claremont to be the only writer having the students use "Professor" in reference to Magneto. Nocenti and Simonson did not follow suit to my knowledge and pretty much forgot the Professor Michael Xavier identity. As I stopped reading New Mutants shortly after Simonson took over, I did not grow used to her omission of the term "Professor" and I was not taken aback by Claremont's use in New Mutants: War Children #1. It is not unusual for him.

As noted, WOSM@ 2 is not possible for Dani between 40 & 41. The past tense editorial note in NM 44 (extradiegetic element) refers to the publication schedule. Intradiegetically, Warlock vowing never to watch TV again in WOSM@ 2 makes it easy to take place after NM 44.
