WAR of the REALMS to EMPYRE

Post by Col_Fury »

We should probably wrap up SECRET EMPIRE to WAR of the REALMS first (no really, we'll get back to it. I swear!), but we might as well start working this out, too.

Here are some previous discussions:

Post-War of the Realms dependencies
House of X/Powers of X
DAWN OF X [spoilers]

And a few quick notes:

IMMH 18-20 (right after WotR, one night)
FF5 12-13 (one night)
IMMH 21 (shortly after #20)
Absolute Carnage (Rick in bathtub)
IMMH 22-24 (Rick gets out of tub, a week since #20, one day into night)
……
IMMH 25-26 (Cho, Namor, Tony as Iron Man appear, Krakoa mentioned, been a while since #24)
TSIM 19 (Tony Stops being Iron Man, Arno starts being Iron Man) [New Year's Eve/Day]
IMMH 27 (one day, no mention of how long since #26)
IMMH 28 (six days since #27, Bain’s company mentioned)
INCOMING! 1 (Samson talks to Joe) (Arno already Iron Man)
IMMH 29 (#28 was last Sunday, Samson already talked to Joe)

Also,

CM9 8-11 (spans at least a week or so, Tony as Iron Man appears, weeks since CM9 1)
……
CM9 12-??? (Tony as Iron Man appears)
TSIM 19 (Tony goes back to drinking & stops being Iron Man here, Arno becomes Iron Man)
INCOMING! 1 (Arno is already Iron Man)

Re: WAR of the REALMS to EMPYRE

Post by Col_Fury »

M/TU4 1-3 happens during a school semester. Spider-Man & Ms. Marvel swap bodies, but don’t remember when everything goes back to normal. Peter and Randy are roommates. Published at the same time as ASM5 18-24. Classic Ms. Marvel costume. Published at the same time as MMSM 1-4.

CHMPS3 7 is basically right after WOTR (Ms. Marvel can’t stop thinking about what she learned last issue, a WOTR tie-in). Classic Ms. Marvel costume, and she quits the team. Who knows how long this issue lasts; Sam was in space for a while.

CHMPS3 8 Sam resumes being Nova, continues into CHMPS3 9 where Ms. Marvel is still in her classic suit. During a school semester (maybe summer school?). Cho references “all the crazy stuff” he’s been doing with the Agents of Atlas overseas (probably a reference to their post-WOTR off-screen activities instead of a current book reference, maybe?). Continues into CHMPS3 10 where Ms. Marvel (still classic costume) rejoins the team and the plot wraps up. End of the series, but the Champions are still a team. Also, this has to be before GOTG5 7-12; the Nova Corps appears here and it’s destroyed (again) in GOTG6 7. Also for Cho, likely before IMMH 26 (CHMPS3 10 came out the same month as IMMH 24-25).

MMSM@ 1 says nothing about school semesters, but Ms. Marvel’s mom knows she’s Ms. Marvel, so before MMSM 1. Classic Ms. Marvel costume. Ms. Marvel is currently with the Champions (so not between CHMPS3 7-8).

MMSM 1-6 starts on the second day of a new school semester. Ms. Marvel’s parents forget she’s Ms. Marvel, her dad reveals he’s dying and Ms. Marvel gets a new costume. Not sure if she starts wearing it all the time, though. Tony appears as Iron Man in #6.

M/TU4 4-6 happens during a school semester. Ms. Marvel is wearing her new costume and her parents don’t know she’s Ms. Marvel. The world doesn’t know that Captain Marvel is half Kree, so before CM9 8-11, where the world finds out she’s half Kree. Published at the same time as CM9 8-10 & MMSM 5-7.

MMSM 7-8 happens in a day, and has been a while since last issue.

MMSM 9-11??? says that last issue was “last month.” Tony appears as Iron Man, so before TSIM 19. MMSM 9 came out the same month as TSIM 18 & CM9 12. Doctor Strange appears doing his new surgeon supreme thing, so at least after DS5 20 where he’s able to start doing that. MMSM 9 was published between DS5 20 & DSSRGNS 1 (Surgeon Supreme). In DSSRGNS 1, Doctor Strange has already been doing his surgeon supreme thing for a bit, so that’s fine. Also, Ms. Marvel loses her new suit in MMSM 11, which becomes a villain.

Re: WAR of the REALMS to EMPYRE

Post by Col_Fury »

Taking some given dates at face value:

X5 4 happens during the World Economic Forum in Davos (this year it was January 21-25). Also, this issue says the Krakoan nation was revealed to the world a month ago. So that would mean the now portion of HOX 1 (where Krakoa is revealed to the world) happens in the middle of December. Also, HOX 1 has scenes of mutants planting Krakoan flowers over a five month period. That means the mutants are starting to prepare for Krakoa's reveal sometime in July.

TSIM 19 ends on New Year’s Eve/Day.

For what it’s worth, I currently have the ending of WOTR on July 4 (WOTR happens after Father's Day).

In theory:

WOTR ends [July 4]
HOX 1 (3:1)-FB [mid-July, "five months ago"]
HOX 1 (3:2)-FB [mid-August, "four months ago"]
HOX 1 (3:3)-FB [mid-September, "three months ago"]
HOX 1 (3:4)-FB [mid-October, "two months ago"]
HOX 1 (4:1)-FB [mid-November, "one month ago"]
HOX 1 (4:2)-FB [late November, "three weeks ago"]
HOX 1 (4:3)-FB [early December, "two weeks ago"]
HOX 1 [mid-December]
TSIM 19 [the New Year]
X5 4 [January 21]

That all falls neatly into place.

Looking at Immortal Hulk:

WOTR ends [July 4]
IMMH 18-20 [July 5]
FF5 12-13 (one night)
IMMH 21 (shortly after #20)
Absolute Carnage (Rick in bathtub)
IMMH 22-24 (Rick gets out of tub) [July 12]

Which means we already have something that needs to be ignored. ASM5 25 (32-45) is the start of a new school semester (mid-August). After that, ASM5 30-31 are Absolute Carnage tie-ins (early July, according to IMMH). Oops.

Maybe the break in IMMH 18 is eight weeks instead of eight days? That would make IMMH 18-20 [August 26] or something. Bruce and friends are supposed to be in hiding during that break, so Hulk shouldn't make any appearances elsewhere during that time is the important part.

V4 16 happens shortly after WOTR. Children are missing and people think it's elves or something (turns out they're wrong). I'd say within a week of WOTR's end, give or take.

FCBD2019:SM/V 1 has Carnage impersonate Eddie Brock and kill a bunch of inmates in Ryker's. This is talked about as recent in ABCRNG 1, so shortly before that crossover. A week, maybe? Two?

FCBD2019:SM/V 1/2 has Spider-Peter and Spider-Miles arguing over who has the best pizza in town. Shocker appears and offers his thoughts on the subject. Could happen at any time, really. Light jacket weather.

ABCRNG:LP 1-3 reveals that John Jameson abducted Misty Knight immediately after WOV:CCRNG 1, and that she's been held captive ever since. So, she can't make any appearances between WOV:CCRNG 1 and ABCRNG:LP 1.

For reference, Misty also appears in BP7 20 and CA8 7 (17-21), 8-9, 11-12 & 15-17.

Remember, Captain America is wanted for MURDER following CA8 7 (1-16), and the current theory we're running with is WOTR delayed his turning himself in in CA8 7 (17-21). CA8 7 (17-21) ends with Cap in custody and CA8 8 starts with Cap having been in prison for two months (!). Cap appears in the Absolute Carnage crossover, so Misty can't get abducted in WOV:CCRNG 1 until after Cap gets out of prison.

A7 21 has the Avengers (including Cap) cleaning up Frost Giant corpses (basically) the day after WOTR ends, so that'll also have to go before Cap turns himself in.

We currently have WOV:CCRNG 1 placed before WOTR:

WOV:CCRNG 1 (Misty abducted)
CA8 7 (1-16) (Cap wanted for murder)
WOTR
A7 21
CA8 7 (17-21), 8-??? (Cap turns himself in) (Misty appears)
ABCRNG 1-5 (Cap not in prison) (Misty released)

That doesn't work, and so WOV:CCRNG 1 needs to be moved to after WOTR, and after CA8 7 (17-21), 8-???.

CA8 7 (1-16) (Cap wanted for murder)
WOTR
A7 21
CA8 7 (17-21), 8-??? (Cap turns himself in) (Misty appears)
WOV:CCRNG 1 (Misty abducted)
ABCRNG 1-5 (Cap not in prison) (Misty released)

Re: WAR of the REALMS to EMPYRE

Post by Col_Fury »

A7 21 is basically the day after WOTR. Happens in a day, Captain America appears. Mephisto is still in Las Vegas.

A7 22 has Robbie realize something’s wrong with his car, so the Avengers get Hellstorm to perform an exorcism on it. Meanwhile, She-Hulk, Thor and Iron Man are still cleaning things up from WOTR. Iron Man is told by Okoye that his head has been in a cave for a million years. Meanwhile, Hellstorm starts the exorcism. Cap appears.

A7 23 has the exorcism going bad. Robbie goes to hell and is challenged to a race by Johnny Blaze (still king of hell). Thor and She-Hulk return to Avengers mountain, but Iron Man doesn’t appear. The Avengers fight Cosmic Ghost Rider. Cap appears.

A7 24 continues the race in hell. Cosmic Ghost Rider and the Avengers decide to go to hell. GOTG5 6 is referenced, and Cosmic Ghost Rider can’t make any appearances elsewhere after GOTG5 6 and before A7 22. She-Hulk and Thor use a new “Gamma Lightning” trick that they’ve been working on for weeks. So maybe that means it’s been at least weeks since A7 21? Cap appears.

A7 25 (1-19) has Robbie winning the race with the Avengers’ help. Meanwhile, Iron Man finishes running tests on his million year old head, then he’s zapped into the past. Cap appears. A7 22-25 happens over two days. A7 25 (20) has Iron Man saying he’s been in the past for six months, and his armor is in pieces.

A7 26 is the origin for the one million BC Starbrand. Entirely in the past.

A7 27-FB has the Avengers preparing to leave for a space mission. Iron man is still missing, so Black Panther’s staying on Earth to look for him. No real mention of how long it’s been since A7 24, but it can’t be a terribly long time. No appearances for Iron Man until he’s found, obviously. A7 27 is five days later, and Thor’s been infected by the Brood. Silver Surfer appears, and has to be after the Silver Surfer: Black mini. Gladiator appears, but I have no idea if this is before or after his recent appearance in NM4. Cap appears in this space story.

A7 28 continues the space plot. In the past, Iron Man (still in armor) chats with the Avengers of one million BC.

A7 29 continues the space plot. The Avengers learn where the new Starbrand is. No Iron Man. To be concluded next issue.

So how does all of this line up with FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1?

FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (1) Iron Man arrives in the past.
FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (2-5) Namor attacks a Roxxon oil rig and battles the Squadron Supreme of America.
FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (6) Black Panther and Blade tell Robbie that his car needs an exorcism.
FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (7-8) the Avengers approach the planet where the new Starbrand is; Thor is infected by the Brood; Gladiator is missing.
FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (9-10) Iron Man meets the Avengers of one million BC.

Which gives us…

FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (2-5) (I guess? This doesn’t link up with anything else)
A7 22 (1-6)
FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (6)
A7 22 (7-20)
A7 23-24, 25 (1-19)
FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (1)
FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (9-10)
A7 28 (15-17)
A7 25 (20)
A7 27-FB, 27, 28 (1-14), (18-20), 29
FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (7-8)
A7 30 (most likely; comes out tomorrow)

Which would make everything except FCBD2019:A/SAVA 1 (7-8) a flashback?

CA8 7 (17-21) has Captain America turn himself in, under suspicion for murdering Thunderbolt Ross, and he’s tossed in prison. In theory, shortly after WOTR. Misty Knight appears.

CA8 8 is Cap’s first day in prison. The duplicate Cap (the Hydra Supreme one) is apparently killed by Selene.

CA8 9 (1-2) is shortly after last issue, but no “important” characters appear.

CA8 9 (3-8) has the Daughters of Liberty (Misty Knight, Spider-Woman, Mockingbird, Sharon Carter, Toni Ho, White Tiger, Invisible Woman, Dryad (I won’t spoil who she is here)) planning to break Cap out of prison.

CA8 9 (9-21) says Cap has been in prison for two months(!). The Wrecking Crew is in the same prison (surprisingly, including Thunderball, who this book’s writer was trying to rehabilitate in BP6. To be fair, he’s the nice one in prison).

CA8 10 has Invisible Woman secretly instigating a prison riot with Thunderball’s help to break Cap out. There’s also a flashback to Gen. Ross’ funeral.

CA8 11 the Daughters of Liberty break Cap out of prison while the riot’s going on. Also, the world thinks regular Cap was actually the Hydra Supreme Cap thanks to the Lukins manipulating the news.

CA8 12 has Cap in his classic costume, attacking Hydra cells, and hiding from the authorities. Winter Soldier appears. Cap decides to stop wearing his Cap suit and start wearing his old super soldier suit.

CA8 13-14 has Steve fighting the Watchdogs, still hiding from the authorities.

CA8 15 is shortly after last issue. Steve finds out Selene is working with the Lukins. Selene also appeared in HOX 5, where she relocated to Krakoa. Also, there’s a new Scourge.

CA8 16 is shortly after last issue. USAgent appears. Scourge is killing cops, but they (the cops) were apparently former Hydra agents or something. Scourge (apparently) kills Kingpin.

CA8 17 nope. Not Hydra, turns out they’re more Watchdogs. The news reports that Kingpin has been assassinated. Somehow… I don’t think that’s going to stick. Steve still in hiding.

CA8 18 comes out tomorrow.

The good news is things seem to happen pretty quickly once Steve gets out of prison, but he really shouldn’t be making any appearance elsewhere until he starts wearing his regular suit again and stops hiding from the authorities. According to the April solicits, it sounds like that won’t happen until at least the April issue. *sigh*

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl!

The final page of #46 is "a few months" after the rest of the issue/War of the Realms; it could reasonably be either before or after #47-50. (Doreen and Nancy's building is destroyed in #47, but presumably they could have moved in somewhere else after #50.)

#47-50 take place on a Saturday, at least a week after WotR but probably considerably more. It involves the Leader, Swarm, Boomerang, (ahahahahah) Bug-Eyed Voice, Whiplash, the Leader, Baron Mordo, Dormammu, Taskmaster, MODOK, Dr. Doom (or I mean it could always be a Doombot), Fin Fang Foom, Galactus, Tony Stark as Iron Man, and an Avengers group including Captain America, Black Panther, She-Hulk, Thor, Captain Marvel, Blade and Ghost Rider.

There are also a whole bunch of Doreen's allies from earlier in the series (Kraven, Mole Man, Ratatoskr, Rhino, Hippo, a Sentinel, the giant tree lobster from #8, etc.)--but all of them are from moments in those characters' timelines "right after they'd been helped by Doreen and were most wanting to return the favor." (Which is why e.g. Kraven can be there; he also tells her "don't believe everything you hear.")

Thanks!

CA8 18 Surprise! Kingpin's not really dead. Scourge is defeated. Steve makes a public appearance and starts to get the public's trust back, but is still in hiding.

A7 30-FB wraps up the space plot, Gladiator appears and can make appearances elsewhere after this. A7 30 has the Avengers back on Earth looking after the new Starbrand. Next issue will be all Iron Man in the past.

Giant-Size X-Statix 1 can go basically anywhere in this period (pre-HoX, most likely); the only familiar characters who appear in it are X-Statix characters.

Gwenpool Strikes Back:

1 involves Spider-Man. There can be a break, if needed, before 2, which involves Deadpool and the Fantastic Four.

3 continues from 2, with a "3-day" break before a scene with (deep breath) Tony Stark (not in armor), Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Captain Marvel, Thor, Black Panther, She-Hulk, Tigra, Spider-Woman, Black Widow, Jessica Jones, Atlas, Black Cat, Ms. Marvel, Nadia Pym, Miles Morales, Moon Girl, Devil Dinosaur, Squirrel Girl, Bruce Banner, and the West Coast Avengers (apparently after their series and their appearance in Superior Spider-Man).

4 continues from 3. Gwenpool borrows versions of herself from West Coast Avengers #1, Champions #5, Unbelievable Gwenpool #12, Rocket Raccoon and Groot #9, and Superior Spider-Man #7; that's gonna be fun to notate. Also, Malekith appears at some point from the past when he was sleeping.

5 continues from 4, with a side trip to Punisher at a moment that could really be any time. There seems to be a break between pages 12 and 13--Quentin Quire is in a different location on either side of the break, in any case--and by now we're definitely somewhere in the HoX era, because there's a Krakoan gate. Logan is present, and Jean Grey is apparently off-panel.

What’s Bruce Banner doing in Gwenpool Strikes Back! #3? Is he just part of a crowd scene, or does he have some dialogue? Also, I’m assuming Ms. Marvel is in her regular costume?

TSIM 14 says it’s “two weeks’ Since TSIM 11, and really wants to be right after WOTR. Tony Stark erases his memories of the last two weeks, because he fell off the virtual wagon in TSIM 6-11, and figures if he can’t remember it he’ll still be on the wagon (he eventually re-loads them). Also, TSIM 14-FB happens three hours ago, with Captain Marvel and Iron Man leaving Avengers Mountain, so likely after A7 21. It’s also mentioned that Baintronics has been giving Stark a hard time for “over a year.” Hmn.

TSIM 15 has Stark testifying to Congress about what happened in TSIM 6-11. Going by how fast Congress works in the real world, this is probably months since TSIM 6-11. The Jocasta subplot is continued from last issue, but if need be we can always detach the past page of last issue to open a gap. Vision and Wonder Man are fused together. Ends with Wasp being captured by Ultron/Pym.

TSIM 16 is the same day as last issue. Stark is fused with his armor.

TSIM 17 has the Avengers (Cap, Captain Marvel, Blade) lured into space by Ultron. Rhodey’s Manticore is destroyed and he starts wearing the War Machine armor again. So, after CM9 9-11 where Rhodey isn’t War Machine again yet.

TSIM 18 Vison and Wonder Man have been separated. Tony gets fixed. Still the same day as TSIM 15.

TSIM 19 (1-14) has Ultron’s defeat, and the Avengers (Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Thor, Doctor Strange) appear. Howard and Maria Stark are revived by Arno. Still the same night as TSIM 15. Feeling he’s a not real, Tony flies away.

TSIM 19 (15-20) are “the days and weeks that follow.”
TSIM 19 (15-16) has Tony Stark declaring himself dead and his current form a copy. Baintronics takes over Stark Unlimited. Bethany Cage is fired, and War Machine starts working for the government again.
TSIM 19 (17) has Machine Man fomenting a robot revolution.
TSIM 19 (18-20) is New Year’s Eve. Stark has been out of public life and no longer adventuring as Iron Man since TSIM 19 (1-14), and he’s gone back to drinking. At midnight, Arno Stark publicly introduces himself as the Iron Man of 2020.

UX5 16-FB has “Captain America” (actually Mystique) still working with Cyclops. This should still happen at a time when Cap’s not in prison, otherwise how stupid is Cyclops? UX5 16 is two days after the -FB. Moonstar senses that Wolfsbane has died.

UX5 17 is Wolfsbane’s funeral, so a week after UX5 16? Eh, probably a few days.

UX5 18 I’m going to say, is shortly after last issue. Just ‘cause.

UX5 19 is the same day as UX5 18 and reveals “Cap” was actually Mystique. I suppose this reveal could go after Cap’s in prison…

UX5 20 continues from UX5 19’s cliffhanger. There are three days ago and two days ago -FBs. And, of course, the real Captain America appears. Guess we’re still before his time in prison.

UX5 21 continues from UX5 20, as does UX5 22, which and of course overlaps with AOXM:O 1 like so:

UX5 22 (1-18:3)
UX5 22 (18:4) ~ AOXM:O 1 (18:6)
AOXM:O 1 (18:7-30)
UX5 22 (19-28)

And, all of this has to happen before HOX 1 (3:1)-FB [mid-July, "five months ago"].

Classic Ms. Marvel suit in GPSB! 3. Also, space-suit Doctor Strange. And, current-at-the-time Bruce Banner. Totally fine between IMMH 24-26.

FF6 11 happens in a day, and was published the month before before MMSM@ 1.

FF6 12 is near the anniversary of FF 584 (where Grimm reverts to human form).

Oh yeah, ASM: Full Circle #1 is in the past.
