SYNOPSIS:
In Arenjun, Helliana and Sabo look for jewels amid the ruins of the Tower of the Elephant and run into the amnesiac Harpagus. The drunken Sabo accidentally brings back Harpagus’ memory and is killed. Harpagus tells Helliana he wants revenge on Conan and wants her to bring Conan to him. Later in Shadizar, Conan is ambushed but he kills his attackers. Helliana flees, but Conan finds a clue that she came from Arenjun.
NOTE:
COB 4 was “more than a decade ago.” Also, we’re obviously after SAVSCO 210.
CONAN: LORD OF THE SPIDERS #2 (April 1998)

SYNOPSIS:
Conan arrives in Arenjun, learns a new priest in town is calling himself “Zath” and gets captured by the local guards. When Conan awakes he recognizes “Zath” as Harpagus. Harpagus poisons Conan with black lotus and tosses him in a pit. Conan is tormented by hallucinations of various foes and lovers. Helliana comes to rescue Conan because he didn’t kill her back in Shadizar, but Conan thinks she’s Harpagus and prepares to kill her.

Huh. I guess Blackrat didn’t die in COB 6 after all!
CONAN: LORD OF THE SPIDERS #3 (May 1998)

FLASHBACK:
Harpagus kills Helliana’s family when they refuse to hand over their cattle to him. Also, he raped Helliana even though she was like, twelve or something.
SYNOPSIS:
Helliana talks some sense into Conan and takes him back to her place. She helps him shake the effects of the black lotus and tells him her story. They’re attacked by Harpagus’ soldiers but Conan sobers up and kills them. They return to Harpagus and Conan mortally wound Harpagus; as he dies he sets fire to his temple. Helliana jumps in to make sure Harpagus dies.
NOTE:
Conan was 17 in COB 4, putting him at least in his late 20s here, probably his early 30s. Also, he’s in Zamora. When is he in or near Zamora in his late 20s/early 30s? SAVSCO 109/2, 125, 118/2, that’s where.
