BP 14-15

Under Archie Goodwin's editorship (1976-78) writers were free to write their series with little regard to other series. When Jim Shooter took over he tightened continuity but this leads to difficulties because characters often came out from protracted storylines without breaks.

An example of this are the Kirby-led series. BP 1-13 occur in succession over two years in adventures abroad, yet Black Panther makes appearances in NYC, notably in Avengers (159 to 165 and then 172 to 180). BP 1-13 was placed between A 166 and 172. BP 14 is placed after A 181. Yet the start of BP 14 shows Wakanda appearing on the international scene in the last "couple of weeks" (in the wake of annexing Kiber's island in BP 13), Vision notices a change in T'Challa (as a result of BP 13), and T'Challa advises Captain America of the "recent Vibranium crisis" (in BP 7-10). Three references that make it implausible to stick 13 issues between BP 13 & 14.

The rest of the issue is contemporary with early 1979.

So my solution is to break BP 14 between 6:3 (when T'Challa reflects on his conversation with Cap) and 6:4 (start of the Klaw storyline in the present). Beast is not among those visiting at the embassy so the first section can take place after A 172 when Beast leaves for the X-Men mansion. Scarlet Witch is not in the second part so the fight with Klaw can take place after HSMASHA 2 (where she leaves for Transia) and thus be removed from Cap's quest for Falcon.
