DEF2 10 Green Goblin & Dr. Octopus

In this issue villain characters are pulled from time and space with no internal clue from which time, but they are all indexed from near their first appearance.

Maybe Avengers Forever, also written by Busiek, is the reason as notes were provided for appearances, referring to the earliest appearance in a given costume (i.e. Wonder Man in jacket in Avengers Forever 12 from A 167, the first issue where he sports these clothes).

The rationale seems weak to me. Venomnibus 3 reprinting the relevant part of this story makes no mention that Venom is time-displaced. However if we are to keep this rationale tied to their appearance, a couple of adjustments are in order.

In DEF2 10 Green Goblin appears on his glider, which was first perfected in ASM 17. He's still using the broomstick in UTSM 18.

Before ASM 11 Octopus is either seen in his lab clothes or inmate clothes and only wears a suit after release from prison in ASM 11.
