CA 365

Post by Michael »

Currently, the placement of Captain America 365 has several problems. First, we have ASM 323-325 and MCP 34/4 being placed in between CA 364 and 365. But Cap and Diamondback are obviously supposed to be returning from their encounter with Crossbones in Madripoor in CA 364 when we first see them in CA 365. Rachel's costume is even torn in the same spots as CA 364. Even worse, Cap says in A@ 19/3 that he was on his way back from Madripoor.
Next we have Cap's appearance in Q 5 placed before his appearance in CA 365. That's impossible- Cap learns of the destruction of Hydrobase in CA 365, and on page 2 of Q 5, Michael O'Brien remarks that Cap is blaming himself for the destruction of Hydrobase. We all know that Cap takes the weight of the world on his shoulders, but blaming himself for the destruction of Hydrobase before he learned of it is a bit much even for him. :)
Similarly, the flashback in A@ 19/3 on panels 4 and 5 of the fourth page of the story feature Cap supervising salvage operations and setting up a temporary headquarters in the sub-basement of the old Avengers Mansion. Yet they're placed before CA 365. This makes no sense- Cap wouldn't be supervising salvage operations and setting up a temporary headquarters until he found out Hydrobase sunk.

A lot of stuff happens on the same day, and IIRC, time references for this day are a bit inconsistent. Here's how I have Cap's chronology at this time:
CA 364
CA 365 (1-9)
FF 334
Q 5
A@ 19/3 (4:4-4:5)-FB
CA 365 (10-17)
CA 366
There's a gap of "several hours" in CA 365 between pages 9 and 10.

Then...
CA 367
CA 368
A@ 19/3 (7:3)-FB
C&D3 9
A 312
PUN2 29 (4-7)
CA 368
PUN2 29 (15-21)

This contradicts the Avengers Index, which states that A 312 occurs between CA 366 and 367, because the statues that are destroyed in A 312 are still standing in CA 368. However, in CA 368, Jarvis makes a reference to the Mandarin (a reference to A 313), so I suppose that was given priority over the statue factor. I never reconciled my notes with the Index, so the placement of Cap in one of the A@ 19/3 flashbacks between pages of Q 5 is inconsistent, among other things.

Bottom line: it looks like we need to re-examine the Acts of Vengeance chronologies.

I have ASM 323-325, M/CP 34/4, and DAMCON2 1 all before this period and DAMCON2 2 after all this.
